GIVE UP THE FIGHT. EAT YOUR PEOPLE. DIE.
With a focus on exploration, beautiful storytelling, and frequent death, Sunless Sea is a Gothic Horror role-playing Game.
A Victorian steamer on a large underwater sea under your command
Cannibalism and madness will get you if the giant crabs, intelligent icebergs, and swarms of bats don't first. But that old, dark sea beckons, and there is loot for the bold ones who dare to sail her.
Look for exciting people to join your crew.
Employ officers who stand out, such as the Haunted Doctor and the Irrepressible Cannoneer. If you can get a tale out of each person, they all have one to tell.
Leave the gas-lit streets of civilization.
Spend too much time on the broad, black sea, and your crew will get terrified and lose their sense of reason. Light and dark, panic and lunacy.
Carve up a life for your captain in a terrible and unusual world.
A rich, captivating world with more than 350,000 words worth of tales and secrets. Look for your father's remains. Identify London's future. Challenge the ocean gods.
You will lose your captain.
Transfer resources to the following generation. Get a family house and a collection of heirlooms. Create a legacy of sailors who faced the water and sometimes won and sometimes lost.
In Sunless Sea, the player assumes control of an Unterzee steamship captain with customizable goals and past. The player can win by completing their desired destination, such as rising to the position of Fallen London's most renowned explorer or accumulating enough money to retire. To get the resources needed to accomplish these goals, players must explore new areas, trade commodities across the Unterzee, engage in combat with ships and "zee monsters," and complete "story" tasks. Sunless Sea offers several roguelike gameplay features, such as permanently dying individuals and partially randomized maps. However, succeeding characters can inherit some of the assets of their predecessors, and a player can write a will to provide for their successors' housing and money.
