Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave throws you into the continent of Dagda, a land split between one massive empire, three loyal kingdoms, and a handful of gladiator style clans fighting for glory in the Heroic Games. This Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave kingdoms and factions guide breaks down every nation, house, and army revealed so far, so you know exactly who is who before the game lands on Switch 2 on September 17.

Take a Look at the World of Dagda

Everything in Fortune’s Weave happens on Dagda, a continent that sits across the sea from Fódlan, the setting of Three Houses. The land was supposedly gifted to a king named Dagda by a goddess roughly 1,500 years ago, and after a string of wars he built the empire that still runs the show today. The capital, Dagsion, wraps around a lake in the Amalthea region and is home to well over a million people. It is also where the Divine Sovereign hosts the Heroic Games, a tournament that grants the winner a single wish, no matter how big.

That premise pulls in fighters from every corner of Dagda, and that is exactly why understanding the nations and clans behind each competitor matters. Once you know the factions, the politics, grudges, and alliances in the story make a lot more sense.

The Dagdan Empire: The Power Behind the Games

The Dagdan Empire is the biggest and strongest nation on the continent, and it is currently led by Solel, the Divine Sovereign and a literal sun god. The empire’s founder, Dagda the Great, is said to be sleeping somewhere rather than dead, which leaves plenty of room for lore twists later in the story.

Here is what you need to know about the empire at a glance:

  • Ruler: Solel, the Divine Sovereign
  • Capital: Dagsion, built around a lake and home to the Heroic Games arena
  • Founded: About 1,500 years before the events of the game
  • Role in the story: Hosts and oversees the entire tournament
  • Vassal states: Saramis, Arago, and Brezarant all answer to the empire

The empire itself does not send a hero into the tournament in the traditional sense. Instead, it acts as the stage, the judge, and occasionally the puppet master, since Solel and the mysterious veiled noblewoman Iliana watch the matches from the best seats in the house.

The Three Vassal Kingdoms of Dagda

Beneath the empire sit three smaller kingdoms. They keep their own rulers and traditions, but all three answer to Solel as their suzerain. Two of them, Saramis and Arago, are directly tied to playable heroes, while the third, Brezarant, is still mostly a mystery.

Saramis: The Kingdom Without Writing

Saramis sits at the southern tip of Dagda and is currently ruled by Theodora, a young queen who took the throne after her father, King Sergio, was killed. Her right hand man, Bonaventure, has served the crown since her father’s reign and has memorized the kingdom’s entire history by heart. Why memorized rather than written down? Because Saramis follows the old teachings of the goddess Yu Phas, and writing has actually been outlawed there for generations.

A few more things worth knowing about Saramis:

  • Its royal capital is Megaira, home to the lighthouse faction base Megaira’s Beacon.
  • The kingdom’s long term goal is to reclaim its former capital, Ahm Lu, and rebuild a temple to Yu Phas that once stood there.
  • A recent civil war cost several noble families their standing, which plays into the backstories of a few playable units.
  • Any Saramisian monarch must be able to wield the Monarch’s Axe to legitimately rule.

Theodora enters the Heroic Games not for personal glory but to win back honor and stability for her people, which makes Saramis one of the more emotionally grounded storylines in the game.

Arago: The Rival Kingdom of Warriors

Arago leans hard into a proud, battle first culture, and its name and aesthetic clearly borrow from Aragon. It is the home base for several recurring rivals, including the generals Nathan and Creek, who fight Dietrich in the tournament and later turn up as real wartime enemies against Theodora’s forces. The kingdom’s banner carries the Crest of Dominic, which also happens to belong to Leda, hinting that her roots may trace back to Arago as well.

Key Arago details so far:

  • Home to the city of Caelus, tied to the title Rose of Caelus shared by Leda and her ally Olympia.
  • Generals Nathan and Creek are nicknamed the Twin Jewels of Arago.
  • Princes Bertrand and an unnamed red haired noble are believed to be part of the Arago royal line.
  • Arago’s soldiers frequently double as tournament opponents and full blown war enemies later in the story.

Brezarant: The Kingdom Still in the Shadows

Out of the three vassal states, Brezarant has barely been shown. It appears on the official Dagda map marked in blue, but Nintendo has not tied it to a playable hero, a ruler, or a faction yet. Expect more details as marketing ramps up closer to launch, but for now it remains the mystery nation of the bunch.

Fódlan: The Realm Across the Sea

Fortune’s Weave is not confined to Dagda alone. Across the Lir Sea sits Fódlan, the familiar setting from Three Houses, home to the Adrestian Empire and the Church of Seiros. Two major characters, Dietrich and Fabio, both hail from this continent.

Dietrich carries a connection to a noble house called Lamine, which did not exist during the Three Houses timeline, adding fuel to theories that Fortune’s Weave might sit earlier on the timeline. Fabio, meanwhile, arrives as a missionary of the Church of Seiros, carrying its faith and its secrets into Dagda.

The Heroic Games Factions: Who Leads What

This is the part most players actually want answered. Every competitor in the Heroic Games gets grouped into a clan, and each clan is led by one of the four Flame Lords, plus two extra factions tied to the wider plot. Each group also gets its own signature color, which you will spot constantly in trailers, banners, and menus.

Savior’s Army

Set five years after the main tournament, in a Dagda ruined by the demon god Balor, this faction centers on Eshmel, a mysterious hero brought back by the goddess Fortuna to rewrite history. Fortuna herself can bend time, and she sends Eshmel to gather the four fallen heroes before it is too late. Supporting members like Hong Hua and Troy round out this small but story critical group.

Ribeira Winds

Led by fifteen year old Cai, a farm boy from the peaceful village of Ribeira, this clan is built on childhood friendship rather than politics. Cai fights to free his father Castor, who was arrested for crimes tied to events from before Cai was even born. His crew includes Tialla, a young strategist who inherited her tactical mind from her grandfather, Peter, a sharpshooting archer, and Ultand, a healer who mixes holy magic with combat support.

House Lamine

Dietrich never planned on joining a faction at all. He washed up on Dagda’s shore after a monster attack and simply wanted a strong opponent to fight. His team is named after House Lamine, a noble family from Fódlan, and it pulls together an unusually mismatched crew: Fabio, a missionary with a taste for dark magic, Esmeralda, a fisherman’s daughter carrying the Crest of Blaiddyd, and Mikaela, a battle hardened mercenary working to pay her daughter’s tuition.

Megaira’s Beacon

Named after Saramis’s capital city, this faction follows Queen Theodora as she fights to restore her homeland’s former glory. Bonaventure, her veteran general, and Nydine, a disciplined former Saramisian soldier, back her up on the battlefield. Their story blends political duty with personal loss, since Theodora is still recovering from her father’s assassination.

Rose Tempest

Leda leads this group with a single goal in mind, tracking down and punishing the person who killed her father five years earlier. As a musician turned fighter, she blends sword and bow combat with music from her vihuela to boost her allies mid battle.

Her crew includes Buccar, a veteran axe fighter nicknamed the Bear Ogre, Scirocco, an unpredictable traveling musician, the priestess Olympia, and Mu, a child hiding her identity while she searches for her missing mother.

Arago’s Elite Squad

Generals Nathan and Creek represent Arago in the tournament, and both are set up as recurring rivals for Dietrich and, later, real battlefield enemies for Theodora. Nathan brings raw lance power on horseback, while Creek counters with sharp swordplay and a colder, more calculating mindset. Together they embody Arago’s warrior first culture.

The Underworld: The Threat Looming Over Everything

While the Heroic Games play out in the year 1449, the story jumps forward to 1454, when Dagda has already fallen to the demon god Balor and his underworld forces. Very little about this faction has been confirmed beyond its leader, but trailers show undead soldiers, corrupted versions of the Flame Lords, and ruined versions of familiar locations like Dagsion.

This is the true endgame threat tying every kingdom and faction together, since surviving it requires uniting heroes who, in the original timeline, never got the chance to team up.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. How many main factions are there in Fortune’s Weave?

A. Six factions have been confirmed so far: Savior’s Army, Ribeira Winds, House Lamine, Megaira’s Beacon, Rose Tempest, and Arago’s Elite Squad. Three of these tie directly into the four Flame Lords players can choose between.

Q. Are the faction names permanent political groups?

A. Not exactly. Names like Ribeira Winds and Rose Tempest work more like team names chosen for the Heroic Games rather than official government titles, similar to picking a guild name. That said, kingdoms like Saramis and Arago are real political nations with actual rulers and history.

Q. Can you switch between kingdoms or lords mid game?

A. Yes. Fortune’s Weave lets you follow one Flame Lord at a time, but you can switch between their stories partway through without losing your progress, giving you a reason to eventually see every faction’s side of the tale.

Q. Is Brezarant playable?

A. Not that we know of yet. It is confirmed as one of the three vassal kingdoms under the Dagdan Empire, but no ruler, hero, or faction connected to it has been revealed.
