Tropico is a Construction and Management based Video Game series started in 2001. Tropico 2: Pirate Cove is the sequel to Tropico, released in 2003. Tropico 3 was released in 2009. A fourth Game, Tropico 4, was released in 2011, and a fifth Game, Tropico 5, was released in 2014. Tropico 6 is the sixth and latest Game in the series that was released in 2019.

The Game starts with the players in control of the Caribbean island nation of Tropico, where they serve as "El Presidente." The Game's campaign consists of 15 distinct missions with various goals.

The player's primary responsibilities as "El Presidente" include overseeing the island's growth by ordering the construction of different resource, industry, and service buildings and deciding how to run them. The player can also issue various "edicts" to impact the island, including new laws, regulations, and diplomatic initiatives.

On the island, there are seven separate political groups: the communists, the capitalists, the militarists, the environmentalists, the nationalists, the religious group, and the intellectuals. Each group has different demands, such as erecting a particular structure or issuing a specific edict. The player will have to handle ties with both the USSR and the United States due to the Cold War setting of the Game. The USSR will give the player yearly financial assistance. Low ties with a superpower will result in less aid and the threat of invasion from that superpower, while high relations will result in more support and the potential for an alliance.

A Latin soundtrack, an avatar, political speeches, a wide range of editing and modification functions, a mission generator for creating random maps, a variety of online features like high scores or visiting other players' islands, and a timeline editor that lets you enter actual or fictitious historical events are also included.
