We are introducing Torchlight, a brand-new Action RPG series created by Runic Games. A seasoned team in Seattle working on Torchlight includes creators and leaders from games like Diablo, Diablo II, Mythos, and Fate. Our staff has honed and developed this distinct gaming style over many years.
The imagination play is located in the fictitious town of Torchlight and the vast caverns and labyrinths close by, which explorers discover to collect functional treasure chests and fight hordes of monsters. After the digital delivery publication in October 2009, Encore, Inc. published a Windows retail box version in the U.S. in January 2010, and JoWooD Entertainment launched a retail box in Europe in April 2010.
The action takes place in the coal town of Torchlight, which saw economic growth due to the discovery of the rich veins of Ember. This rare and enigmatic mineral can either enchant or corrupt anything it comes into touch with. Players travel out into the adjacent highlands and the depths below to learn the full scope of Ember's impact on the societies that came before to avoid the potentially disastrous effects of this corrupting power.
Plot:
Cinder is a strange mineral that can endow individuals and things with mystical properties in Torchlight's fantasy land. Explorers are lured to the industrial boomtown of Torchlight because it is situated over a prolific vein of Ember and because of the charming artefacts and supernatural material it produces. However, when the player protagonist discovers the tunnels under Torchlight, they learn that Ember has a corrosive power that caused the collapse of previous civilizations and puts people using it now in jeopardy.
When the player avatar first comes into town, Syl, a sage looking for her master, Master Alric, an alchemist who has vanished in a local mine, recruits them. The player soon learns that the complete Dungeon is a "layer cake of fallen civilizations" after finding a passageway into ancient, crypt-like chambers below. Alric ambushes the player and confesses he has become evil due to Ember's corrosive effect. The player must face Alric and an ancient entity named Ordrak, who is the cause of the Ember's corruption after battling several creatures and minions to reach the bottom of the Dungeon.
Three avatar categories are available in Torchlight:
- The Destroyer is a nomadic warrior adept in physical warfare but also has the power to summon spirits to perform sorcery.
- The mystical ability of Ember attracts the spellcaster known as the Alchemist. With his unique concentration glove, he can conjure imps and robots with a steampunk aesthetic.
- The Vindicator is a top-tier city guard dispatched covertly to Torchlight to look into the town. She prefers using ranged weaponry, but she may also set traps for her enemies.
The player builds up their character by allocating points to skill trees that are specialized to each class. Additionally, there is a separate group of techniques that any surface, regardless of class, may learn from scrolls.
