Product description
Utilize your blackjack, sword, and selection of distinctive arrows to stalk your prey as you search for stolen valuables. As you play through a plot of deception and retaliation, steal for cash and learn the secret goals of your allies and foes. In a world where trust is not an option, confrontation always results in death; how will you survive?
Thief Gold sometimes referred to as TG, is the final iteration of Thief: The Dark Project as it was always intended. This expanded edition contains every mission from the original release and three brand-new missions that have been fully voice-acted and updated in terms of aesthetics and content. Even now, it is still regarded as the original Thief game.
Gameplay
The story of Thief is told through several missions, and the player character can engage in various movements, including leaning, crouching, swimming, climbing, sprinting, and fighting, among others. The Game is played from a first-person perspective in a 3D environment. Non-player characters (NPCs) may be stationary or move on patrol routes in a Level's environment. Still, players can choose how to get around them and the obstacles in those environments to complete specific tasks, like getting through a locked door. Levels are largely unscripted and maze-like, allowing for emergent gameplay.
Each level has a series of goals the player must accomplish to go on to the next one, such as stealing a particular object. Before beginning a level, the player can select one of three difficulty settings, which they can switch between missions. The more difficult settings add extra objectives like not killing human NPCs or stealing a specific amount of loot from the available items in a level, altering the player character's health, and altering how sensitive an NPC is to their environment.
While failing a crucial objective or dying would cause a level to fail, forcing a player to either replay it or load a previous save, in some missions, players may find that objectives have altered or new ones have been introduced due to situations they experience.
