Product description
Thea 2: The Shattering is the sequel to the successful Thea: The Awakening, and it takes the concept of an innovative genre hybrid, with elements of turn-based, survival, RPG, 4X strategy, and a card game, to a whole new and thoroughly polished level.
The player assumes the role of a god from the pantheon inspired by Slavic mythology and thus controls the fate of a small herd of believers fighting for survival. This goal can be attained in various ways, from diplomacy to war to exploration to conquest. Still, any playstyle will undoubtedly result in unique excursions thanks to the procedurally generated surroundings.
Thea 2 is an excellent choice for tactically minded players looking for a challenge, with a wealth of options ranging from crafting to a town-building system and co-op multiplayer gameplay.
Key Features
- Exterminate your way to victory, fight through the vast array of creatures, or try to make it until sunrise.
- Choose your playstyle: become a military commander or a diplomat, or wander the world in search of glory as an outsider.
- Exploit the land's many wonders by discovering and combining resources, collecting materials, and crafting them into your equipment.
- Co-op mode for up to three players enables you to construct your pantheon with friends.
- In a world motivated by Slavic myth and folklore, become a deity of Thea and lead you're Chosen to victory.
- Discover new environments and biomes that are rich, procedurally generated, and diverse.
- Expand your global influence, build towns, expand your territories, or take the much more difficult path of a nomad.
- Survive however you can and select your challenge aesthetic as you resolve conflicts through battle, mental, or spiritual challenges.
- DLCs are accessible for free, as are an adventure editor and other modding tools.
Gameplay
The 2 sets up a canonical timeline of events that occurred during and after the first game. Both games can be played in Slavic folklore, but they are set in a high fantasy world. A new evil emerges, dividing the world into islands. The gods task a champion with stopping this evil force. Turn-based 4X games, role-playing video games, and digital collectable card games are all incorporated into the gameplay. Players select a champion after selecting a patron from among the Slavic deities. This character must remain alive to progress and may belong to one of several classes. A task, such as foraging, crafting, or fighting, can be completed by any character, but classes that specialise in that task can complete it faster.
A card game is used to resolve combat and events. When the player has enough resources, they can build a village, and unlike in the first game, they can have multiple towns or remain nomadic. Crafting was redesigned after Awakening to rely less on grinding. Children are now treated as a resource, and more resources have been added. More options were added to address the concerns of those who disliked card-based combat in the initial game. Thanks to the collaborative multiplayer mode, friends can now help each other in battle.
