Plot
Styx infiltrates the Tower of Akenash, a vast floating stronghold kept aloft by the power of the World Tree, around which the fortress was erected before the events of the last Game. Styx longs to enter the World-Tree and free a buddy held captive elsewhere in the defence, but he is unsure of why he feels the need to do either; instead, he is prodded on by a voice in his head and confusing recollections. He ultimately frees his "buddy," only to find that it is a creature just like himself. The beast that the player has been in charge of from the start of the Game is a clone of the original Styx, who has spent the entire time being interrogated.
The original Styx was an orc scholar who wanted to learn about the World Tree. However, he was magically changed into the diminutive creature he is today by the magical Amber of the tree (the first goblin). The murmurs of the elves who slumber amid the World Tree's roots have tormented him for centuries. Styx cannot block out the elves' incessant talk because they have a telepathic hive mind and are also amber creatures. He might be able to revert to being an orc if he manages to steal the Heart of the World-Tree, which will put an end to the elves' silence.
Original-power Styx's to produce copies of himself was one of the benefits that Amber bestowed upon him. Usually, these clones are mindless thralls, but when Original-Styx entered Akenash, he developed a clone with an extraordinarily high Level of intelligence so it could carry out more challenging duties on its own, such as saving Original-Styx if he were kidnapped. Original-Styx still views this clone as nothing more than a temporary solution like all the others. Clone-Styx is enraged and makes a vow to kill Original-Styx and start over.
Highlights:
- Areas of the missions with genuinely spontaneous player path-finding
- A significant emphasis on extreme stealth and infiltration: move through the shadows with a sense of verticality and scout the area for undiscovered treasures.
- Upgrade your skills along six skill trees to increase your stealth, assassination, and technique.
- Distract, solve, smother, and prowl with your clone in this complex tale full of surprises.
