With new methods to play and win, tools for managing and growing your civilization, brand-new, simple-to-use mod capabilities, and powerful multiplayer modes and options, Sid Meier and Firaxis Games will now take this extremely entertaining and addicting game to new heights.
A stunningly realistic 3D world will bring Civilization IV to life, taking the gaming experience to new heights. Civilization IV has already been hailed by gamers everywhere as one of the top 10 games of 2005!
Gameplay
By having the player try to guide a modest group of people from a base with initially limited resources into a prosperous empire or civilization, Civilization IV borrows some elements from the 4X model of turn-based strategy games, a genre in which players control an empire and "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate."
Building the first spaceship in the Space Age and sending it to Alpha Centauri, controlling more than two-thirds of the game world's land, and sending it there, having the most dominant Culture ratings over other civilizations, or becoming the "World Leader" through votes in the United Nations are the five requirements for winning the game.
A win condition based on the sum of these points is also possible if the game timer runs out because there are several game scores for each civilization throughout the game based on their actions and various other criteria. The game can be played in multiple ways, including hot seat mode, online multiplayer games, and as a single player competing against one or more computer-controlled opponents.
