The National Nightly News is about to start. You get to choose what should be shown as a nation watches. Select the most thrilling (or scandalous) camera angles, bleep the profanities, and choose which advertisements to air to satisfy the advertisers. Absolutely no pressure! Who, after all, actually pays attention to the news?
 
You can choose what you want to watch on television, regardless of what anyone else wants, in the darkly humorous televised chaos game known as Not For Broadcast. On the airwaves, egotistical celebrities, dishonest politicians, and odd sponsors battle. You're here to make sure the performance doesn't stop.
 
With only a few seconds left in a live broadcast, you can quickly switch between several camera feeds, edit the headlines, and bleep any offensive language! As long as you can keep the fickle attention of the audience, you can choose to follow the party line or cause a scandal.
 
 
Major Highlights
 
Press the big red CENSOR button to prevent offensive language and other sensitive information from being broadcast. Ensure that the news is safe for both children and repressive political systems.
 
There is more news to view than a single broadcast can reasonably include, so someone gets to decide what airs on television—that someone is you. Describe a football player as a devoted boyfriend or a wild drunk? One of the calls you must make is yours. TV is all it is, right? It's not like you could decide the future of an entire country...
 
Despite your influence, they aren't paying you enough here. A few carefully chosen, albeit dubious, sponsors might help boost that bank account and offer some amusement along the way. There are absolutely no refunds and no guarantees of customer satisfaction.
 
Even existential dangers cannot stop the National Nightly News! No matter how crazy things become, keep broadcasting. Nobody, not even a category 5 storm, can stop the news!
Okay, so the news isn't all good news and embarrassing celebrity stories. The politics are starting to get to you with all the talk of war. But be joyful and don't worry! Turn up the advertisements, tune out the commotion, and whatever you do, avoid listening to the news crew's behind-the-scenes frantic chatter. The situation is fine.
 
 
Gameplay
 
The player assumes the role of studio director Alex Winston in the National Nightly News' production control room.
 
The vision mixer is used by the player to choose which camera feed to broadcast. The chosen stream is transmitted after a two-second broadcast delay. Any foul language or other offensive words must be bleeped out by the player when they are aired. Later levels allow the player to enhance the broadcast with additional sound effects like canned laughter and applause. A waveform monitor is also used by the player to manage any interference.
