Men of War: Assault Squad is a real-time tactics/strategy game set in World War IIMen of War: Assault Squad offers a brand-new cooperative skirmish game mode with access to five different countries (Russia, Germany, the United States, the Commonwealth, and, for the first time in the Men of War series, Japan), as well as more realistic graphics and improved accessibility.
When controlling a tank, players can smash through barriers, trample soldiers beneath their treads, fire high-explosive rounds at opposing emplacements, and even take control of a single soldier in battle. Men of War: Assault Squad features the same "direct control" feature as the series' earlier games, allowing players to take control of any unit using the WASD controls rather than pointing and clicking.
Gameplay
Because there is no "fixed force" (i.e., no reinforcements) scenarios in Assault Squad, the game leans more toward strategy than its predecessors did. It is powered by a complex simulation that keeps tabs on fuel and ammunition, unit inventories for each one, cover and line of sight, tank warfare with shell penetration and deflection, the field of view, and much more.
Although Assault Squad is designed for multiplayer, the brand-new co-op Skirmish mode may be played alone and offline.
The "direct control" feature in Assault Squad, like in previous games in the series, enables the player to take control of any unit on the field. This enables precise control during firefights, allowing you to prime grenades before throwing them and target particular areas of a tank with your fire.
A built-in Elo rating system is used in the multiplayer, which runs on the GameSpy client. Numerous maps available for multiplayer matches can feature any of the game's five factions. As DLC, new multiplayer maps are made available.
Key Features
- The game features various historical backdrops and battlegrounds for each nation, allowing players to confront multiple foes and strategies.
- Unique hero troops have potent powers such as boosting morale, increasing firepower or giving units other benefits to overcome the enemy against all odds.
- Bonuses include unique "For the Motherland!" charge attacks, airstrikes to destroy incoming tank columns, remote-controlled explosives that may level entire apartment buildings, and more.
- Every combat becomes a new experience against an AI that genuinely fights back thanks to improved and dynamic AI, which guarantees that no two missions in the game will play out in the same way.
- Excellent selection of locales, from Western to Eastern Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific region
- The capacity to participate in cooperative online play with up to four pals or new multiplayer game settings.
- Enhanced multiplayer with real-world use of tools and vehicles.
