Adventure Game King's Bounty: The Legend has tactical turn-based combat and role-playing components. The player controls a hero in a fairy tale fantasy world filled with brave knights, evil mages, wise kings, and stunning princesses. Exploring the Game world with their character, controlling forces in battle, and completing objectives can result in enormous rewards or devastating losses.
Gameplay
Adventure mode and warfare mode are the two main gameplay modes. The player controls their character in real-time while playing in adventure mode. The player navigates the adventure map in search of various treasures, battling monsters, and completing quests assigned to him by the local stewards while choosing from one of the numerous classes that are initially available. When playing in battle mode, the player becomes a war chief who commands his forces in tactical turn-based combat. Battles happen on land, at sea, in castles or dungeons, or even inside some objects! While the hero does not engage in combat, they can aid their people by using spells or summoning other monsters.
The player's character may substitute friendly fire with up to five squadrons of allies. One to hundreds of these may exist, and they may be anything from regular folk (such as peasants or archers) to exotic creatures (such as gryphons, beholders, or ents). The character's "Leadership" attribute determines each unit's maximum size cap, and recruited soldiers can be found throughout many Game worlds. Then, using passive advantages, Spirits of Rage, magic spells and scrolls, and magic, the player's character assists the warriors in battle (spells and scrolls).
Plot
The narrative of the Game centres on Bill Gilbert, who submits an application for employment at the royal palace. After completing a few trial exams, he is introduced to King Mark as a Royal Treasure Searcher. He then begins to climb. He starts by pursuing bandits, collecting taxes, and performing essential delivery work.
The plot takes an unexpected turn when he is assigned to deliver a potent item known as the Rage Chest from the wizards to the King. He is carrying the artefact when he wounds himself on it and becomes bound by the spirits, which prevents him from giving the King the chest and instead lets him keep it for himself.
