The main sword skins in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are unlocked by rescuing Lion Dogs. There are 36 Lion Dogs in total, and a new sword skin is unlocked for every six Lion Dogs you find.

How to Unlock Lion Dogs in Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Lion Dogs become available after you complete the “What Lurks in the Shadows” mission. After that, you can find them throughout different areas of the game. There are 36 Lion Dogs to collect. Finding six unlocks the first sword skin, while collecting all 36 gives you the final skin, Kikoku.

Lion Dog Locations

The Lion Dogs are spread across different locations in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Some of the areas where you can find them include Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Nijo-jo Castle, Mount Oe, Arashiyama, and Eastern Kyoto. The easiest way to find them is to open your map and look for the pawprint markers. This lets you quickly check which areas still have Lion Dogs waiting to be rescued.

How to Change Sword Skins

Once you unlock a sword skin, you can change its appearance at a Spirit Mirror. Select the appearance option and choose the sword skin you want Musashi to use.
