Valheim 1.0 launched on September 9, 2026. Iron Gate confirmed the date back at the PC Gaming Show in June, and there was no staggered rollout or public test branch this time. The Deep North: Valheim’s Final Biome
The headline feature of 1.0 is the Deep North, the game’s eighth and final biome. It sits at the northern edge of the map and brings a frozen, hazardous region for players who have already fought their way through Ashlands and everything before it.
A few things to know about the Deep North:
- Ice is slippery, so careless movement can genuinely cause you to stumble, especially near enemies

- Iron Gate has described the Deep North as roughly two biomes worth of new content
Iron Gate has not published a full changelog yet, so exact boss names, gear tiers, and new materials are still unconfirmed. Anything claiming to list the complete Deep North content right now is speculation, not an official statement.
New Platforms and Full Crossplay
For the first time, Valheim is now available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, alongside its existing home on PC, Linux, Mac, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Crossplay is supported across every platform, so you and your crew can play together no matter what you are on.

The new price reflects the jump from an evolving Early Access project to a complete, full release.
One thing worth knowing if you already owned Valheim before September 9: the price increase only applies to new purchases. Existing owners were not charged anything extra and received the full 1.0 update, Deep North included, for free.
Is Valheim Worth Buying?
Even at the new price, Valheim is now a genuinely complete game rather than an evolving Early Access project.
