All 36 Onimusha: Way of the Sword Lion Dog Locations

The Onimusha: Way of the Sword Lion Dog collectibles are spread across Kyoto and several other areas in the game. There are 36 Lion Dogs to find in total. Rescuing them unlocks new sword appearances for Musashi, while finding all 36 also unlocks the For the Love of Dog trophy or achievement. Lion Dogs become available after completing the What Lurks in the Shadows main story quest. Once available, you can track their locations using pawprint icons on the map. There are 36 Lion Dog locations in total. Kyoto has the largest number, while the remaining Lion Dogs are spread across Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Nijo-jo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Mount Oe, and Arashiyama.

How to Find Lion Dogs Easily

Once Lion Dogs are unlocked, look for the pawprint icon on the map. This makes tracking the collectibles much easier than searching every area manually. Some Lion Dogs are inside houses, shrines, towers, or other small areas, so do not rely only on the main roads. Check buildings and paths around the marked location if the collectible is not immediately visible.

It is also useful to keep an eye on your story progress. Later areas can require additional missions or area progression before their Lion Dogs become available.

Can You Miss Lion Dogs?

You can collect the Lion Dogs during the story and continue cleaning up collectibles before the final point of no return. The final point of no return comes before the final mission, The Clash at Rendaino, so it is a good idea to finish your collection before starting the final part of the game.
