Approach the horizon while moving through the islands, each of which has a unique wildlife population, topography, and set of difficulties to overcome.
Gather materials from the untamed environment of the islands so that you can create a variety of equipment and weapons to hunt animals and improve your boat. When supplies run low, you must set sail.
Your boat is your main travel companion, so carefully build your own unique sailing vessel to withstand the choppy waters as you cross from island to island. Create your boat to withstand violent winds, enormous waves, and dangerous marine life.

Gameplay

Kara has access to a very robust crafting system that allows her to manufacture nearly anything in her environment, from grass and sticks to animal bones and hides, into simple equipment like shovels and hammers or improvements to her boat that will make sailing faster.

But none of it seems especially necessary, save perhaps for a simple boat and a sharpened stick for defence. You may complete the whole campaign of Windbound by eating only mushrooms, avoiding all danger, and not changing your canoe in any manner. There aren't any notable monsters that demand you to improve Kara's fighting skills in order to defeat them, and there aren't any specific stormy seas that demand expensive boat improvements to cross. In Windbound, there is a tonne of crafting to be done, but there is no compelling reason to bother.
