Gameplay
There are numerous tracks in Star Wars Episode I: Racer that span multiple distinct worlds. It has every racer from the film and extra opponents that are only present in the Game. The podracer, driven by the player character, has a boost feature that can be used. When triggered, the temperature of the producer will increase. If the player accelerates too long, the motors will blow up, damaging the podracer and delaying the player's ability to respawn and resume racing. The player must navigate carefully to avoid lagging because the producer will also be killed if one or both engines suffer substantial damage from hitting too many walls or other obstructions. While competing, the player can actively repair the podracer.
The Game offers three single-player Game styles. The player character participates in a competition in Tournament mode. A reward for finishing a race is money, with more significant rewards going to higher-ranked finishes. It can unlock new racers, activate new tracks, and repair or buy components for droids. The player can practise any previously opened racer once they acquire the course in Free Race mode. The player character can control the opponent's difficulty but cannot unlock new racers or tracks. Time Attack sets the player's character against the clock as they race to complete the course quickly. On the PC version, this mode is missing. Instead, the user can set the number of opponents in the Free Play mode to 0.
