Five new landscapes, including a brand-new War Scenario, are invaded by the new Tuatara enemy race in Tipping the Scales. Bring your new equipment to the battle to defeat the Tuatara's unique ability to reduce the damage they can absorb. The Tuatara Assassin poses a particular threat since it can move stealthily and dodge your traps.
The DLC for Tipping the Scales consists of the following
- 3 Standard Scenarios,
- 1 War Scenario, and
- 1 Orcs Must Die! Chained Reloaded
Key Features
- Damage cap for the Tuatara enemy race (enemy units only take a max amount of damage per source)
- Light, Heavy, Ranger, Assassin: New Enemy Types
- The player's hand is linked to a fast-firing gun known as a Gatling gun.
- Reptilian Carapace, a new item, provides a shield of protection for the player.
- Briar Patch, a new trap, spreads out to cover the ground as it harms the enemy units.
- Vanity Skins: Vorwick Sand Skin and the Cygnus Sand Skin
- Six other achievements have been added.
- Scramble Mode: All new maps have been included.
- New maps, except the War Scenario map, have been added to Endless Mode.
Gameplay
Orcs Must Die! 3 is a version of a tower defence Game, just like its forerunner and the original Game. The Game's objective is to defend rifts from such an assault of orc troops by using the characters' weaponry and unique skills and constructing traps. The player assumes the role of one of two apprentice war mages. The first 18 levels of the Game were available.
The Game offers an Endless mode, Weekly Challenges mode, and the standard Story Game mode. Unlike its predecessors, it has a War Scenarios Game mode, which challenges a player to repel far greater orc forces (up to 1,000). In this scenario, a castle and its breach are protected from larger parties using enormous traps known as War Machines.
The Game features a cooperative multiplayer option for two players.
The new weapon, a hand cannon with minor damage but a rapid rate of fire, is an intriguing concept. The gun also has a clever alt-fire feature that summons spikes in an area of effect (AoE) around you to deal site when adversaries step across them (they explode after a short time). Regarding high RoF weaponry, the rifle feels marginally weaker than the crossbow and has a good stun. Given that the alt-fire isn't as noticeable, giving this gun a SLIGHT (and by slight, I mean it) damage increase to the primary fire made me choose this over the crossbow.
In conclusion, well done, robot. If you include the time when OMDU had its launcher, I've played orcs for 1000 hours, and this DLC feels more like orcs than "cold as eyeballs." Hopefully, this update was a positive start after a balance patch in the future (hopefully).
