A vast, pixelated kingdom lies beyond the foreboding walls of Castle Hammerwatch and cries out for a savior. Herian's once-prosperous Kingdom is now scarred by destruction. With the help of his powerful dragon army, Blight the Horrible has succeeded in his evil goal of toppling the honorable King Roland and spreading a shadow of doom throughout the realm.

However, brave explorer, not all hope has been lost. A glimmer of hope still exists nestled inside the winding, submerged tunnels of the Kingdom's sewer system. Here, King Roland's rebellion flourishes against all odds, fending against Blight's oppressive rule. And now it's your turn to take center stage. You were one of a select group of individuals handpicked by the King himself to retake the realm and drive Blight and his dragons from it.

You are the glimmer of hope our planet needs, whether you set out on your own as a lone wolf against the waves of darkness or organize a band of heroes. You will have the opportunity to aid the struggling locals as you travel through magical communities, forming bonds and allies in the process. Monsterous animals, merciless undead hordes, and the ominous powers of Blight are all on your road. Every conflict pays homage to the legendary ARPGs that once captivated players' imaginations.
