The story 

Lust for Darkness is centred around a mysterious cult that worships an ancient deity known as the Lord of Ecstasy. The cult is led by Herbert, obsessed with the Creator and will do anything to bring it back to the world. Jonathan Moon's wife, Amanda, was involved with the cult and went missing while investigating them. Jonathan ventures into the world of Lusst'ghaa to find her but soon finds himself embroiled in the cult's twisted plans.

Throughout the action, players encounter various cultists and creatures that are part of the cult's rituals. These encounters are often violent and disturbing; players must use their wits and skills to survive. The Game's puzzles are also deeply intertwined with the story, requiring players to solve them to progress and uncover more about the cult and its history.
