Desmond Miles is the main character of Assassins Creed 2 after he escapes from Abstergo Industries with the aid of worker Lucy Stillman. Desmond utilises a new Animus to relive the memories of his ancestors, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who lived in Italy during the Renaissance to defeat Abstergo and the contemporary Templars.

A follow-up to this game, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood promises more action, and the story unfolds around other characters.

Plot

Desmond delivers a lengthy speech at the start of the game, Assassins Creed 2, detailing what happened in the previous game and his current situation. First, Desmond Miles mentions how he was held captive by the contemporary Knights Templar, Abstergo Industries, and was forced to relive his ancestor's genetic memories, Altar Ibn-La'Ahad, to help Abstergo find the location of artefacts known collectively as the "Pieces of Eden." This takes place in 2012, a few hours after the events of Assassin's Creed.

Gameplay

The action-adventure game Assassin's Creed II is set in an open world in late 15th-century Renaissance Italy and played from a third-person perspective. The nonlinear gameplay emphasises exploration, stealth, and hack-and-slash combat.
