Play as a teenage Legatus whose father has been murdered by an unidentified political rival, causing you to flee Rome and seek safety in the military operation to put down a Greek uprising. As you develop your military skills and fortify yourself in the crucible of battle, you transform into the Legatus, whom everyone comes to respect and dread. You exert the will of Rome through your activities on the global stage of Expeditions: Rome, from the deep forests of Gaul to Greece's deep blue coastlines.

Gameplay

For turn-based tactical RPGs, party-based fighting is quite typical. The order of classes is flexible. The character's class allows you to select abilities from any of the 3 subclass branches, which offers some room for specialisation. Throughout the first 6 to 8 hours, the tale keeps things moving along well and is primarily engaging. But after that, everything stops, forcing you to sit there and slowly "conquer" a dozen territories using the Army fighting system. It's not like the opponents are hard to defeat or that you must develop a grand strategy. It would be best to choose the option that balances your Army's numbers and the more significant ones.
