The hype for GTA 6 has been one of the biggest in gaming history, and expectations are now so high that some players feel the game may struggle to fully live up to them. After two trailers and a delayed release date for 19 November 2026, the hype isn’t just the same anymore. It’s coming out only for PlayStation and Xbox Series X/S and there’s no PC release date, which is a red flag in itself. There’s not enough news or social media posts about the much anticipated title and fans can’t help but notice so. And now it’s possible that many gamers won’t play GTA 6 at release and let us tell you why.

1. Insane Delay
GTA 6 has been delayed multiple times and the wait has been crazy long. Most gamers have lost the excitement and they aren’t even searching for the title anymore. The excitement for GTA 6 was huge initially but now it’s just toning down. After years of rumors, leaks and silence from Rockstar Games, many players feel burned out before the game even drops. It’s true that when a release takes too long, people lose interest or move on to newer games that are already available.
2. Might Be Too Expensive
There’s a strong chance GTA 6 will come with a higher price tag than usual, possibly pushing past the standard AAA pricing. It’s in the news that Grand Theft Auto VI might be priced around $100 because of its massive development budget and long production cycle. For a lot of gamers, especially in regions where pricing hits harder, spending that much on a single game just isn’t realistic. When you add potential in-game purchases or future expansions, it starts to feel like a big financial commitment.
3. No PC Release at Launch
One of the biggest deal-breakers is that GTA 6 might not launch on PC right away. Rockstar has done this before with Grand Theft Auto V and PC players had to wait for so many years. That delay frustrates a huge chunk of the gaming community especially those who don’t own consoles and prefer better performance and modding freedom on PC. The population of PC gamers is surely higher and the game not releasing on PC itself will cause a decrease in sales.
4. 30 FPS Limits
GTA 6 running at 30 FPS on consoles could feel less smooth during gameplay, especially for players used to fast and fluid 60 FPS gaming. Now it is also possible for such a massive game to have bugs and glitches at launch and gamers get more disappointed with the performance. Rockstar might release bug fixes and updates gradually but that won’t just make up for the disappointment.
5. High Storage & Advanced System Requirements
Modern AAA games are getting massive and GTA 6 is expected to be no different. With likely huge storage requirements and demanding system specs, not everyone will be able to run it smoothly. Console players might need to free up space or upgrade their systems and that is not always convenient and costs extra. Playing GTA 6 will surely be more difficult than it seems like.
6. Better Deals Later
A lot of gamers are just smarter with their money now and instead of buying GTA games at launch, they wait for sales and discounts, bundles, or complete editions that include DLCs. Games are priced higher at launch due to the hype and demand but later the cost drops which makes it accessible to budget gamers. Since Rockstar games tend to stay relevant for years, there’s no rush waiting often means getting a better version of the game for less money.
7. Overhype = Unreal Expectations
The hype around GTA 6 is on another level though it’s true that it’s not the same anymore. But still too much type can backfire. When expectations get too high, even a great game can feel disappointing when they feel they deserved better after all this wait. Players are expecting perfection, next-gen graphics, a beyond engaging storyline, insane realism, endless content and if the game misses even slightly, it could lead to backlash. Sometimes, too much hype sets a game up to fail rather than succeed and that could happen with GTA 6.
8. Other Games are Taking Over
Some other popular titles of 2026 like Crimson Desert and Resident Evil Requiem have already surpassed expectations with millions of players. Gamers are busy completing and replaying these games and have almost given up on GTA 6 November release. Some sources also believe that Crimson Desert is going to win the Game of the Year 2026 award and GTA 6 will just be left behind. Gamers just don’t wanna wait anymore and given their energy to other cool games.
Future of GTA 6

A game with a billion-dollar budget and years of development simply can’t afford to miss the mark, especially with millions of fans expecting a genre-defining experience. Some gamers are over excited to play the title and experience the first ever female protagonist, but that’s simply not enough for the rest of the gamers.
Rockstar seems confident that GTA 6 won’t face another delay, but since the gaming industry is always unpredictable, many gamers are still staying cautious until the official launch arrives. How are you feeling about it? Will you play GTA 6 at launch? Tell us in the comments!
