Pokemon Unite Roles Explained

Pokemon Unite has a plethora of different and unique Pokemons that can be recruited and used by the players. Each Pokemon is assigned a role, and has access to unique active and passive abilities. As players level up their Pokemon by farming, defeating enemies, scoring, and taking objectives, their Pokemons level up and can learn new abilities.

Pokemon Unite game

This choice rests entirely up to you as the master, and you can build each Pokemon uniquely by choosing different movesets. Even so, each Pokemon has a fixed role according to which they function. These Pokemon roles or Pokemon types in Pokemon Unite are as follows:

  • Attacker – Attacker Pokemons are associated with dealing damage and AOE effects. These damage dealers or DPS Pokemons can dish out tons of damage if left unchecked. Sadly, they need time to scale up and become the powerhouse you need in the late game.
  • All-Rounder – An all-rounder type Pokemon in PU has a balanced set of stats. This means they have a good ratio of both Attack and Defense, making them capable of fulfilling any role the team might be lacking.
  • Defender – As the name might give away, Defenders are the sturdy tanks in Pokemon Unite. These Pokemon have very high defense and HP pools, making them capable of absorbing a ton of incoming damage. They act as frontline for the team in teamfights, giving weaker carries more coverage.
  • Speedster – If speed is what gives you thrill, you must check out Speedster Pokemons. These agile and mobile units can go in teamfights, take out someone, and get out just as fast. The con? Such Pokemons are usually more skill-based and a single misplay can cost you the entire fight.
  • Supporter – These Pokemons are great at keeping your team alive and healthy. Supporters have access to powerful healing and crowd-controlling abilities that can buff allies and debuff enemies to turn the tide of battles in your favour.
