FGO Tier List: EX Tier Servants

Four Servants sit above everything else in the current game. They do not just perform well. They define how every other team gets built around them. Every FGO best character conversation eventually circles back to these names.

Altria Caster – The definitive Arts support. She turbocharges NP gain for the entire party. Every Arts farmer wants a copy of her, ideally two. Her presence in a composition essentially makes the rest of the team better by default.
Koyanskaya of Light – The queen of Buster looping. She charges NP, buffs ATK, and enables three-turn farming loops that would otherwise be impossible. If you have her, she belongs in almost every farming team.
Oberon – The final puzzle piece for virtually all farming compositions. His NP charge and Buster damage buff are the linchpin behind the most efficient farming setups in the game right now.
Scathach-Skadi (Ruler) – The definitive Quick support. She charges NP, buffs Quick performance, and pairs with herself via Double Skadi for some of the most consistent looping in the meta.

EX- Tier Servants

These Servants sit just below the absolute ceiling. Each one either enables specific farming archetypes or serves as an irreplaceable cornerstone of their comp. Check out all the FGO servants in this tier:

Arash – A one-star Archer who changes how early waves get cleared. He fires his NP, wipes wave one, and exits the field to summon your real carry. A farming miracle wrapped in a humble rarity.
Arjuna (Alter) – A relentless AoE Buster Berserker who handles wave-clearing with frightening consistency. Double Koyanskaya makes him one of the cleanest three-turn farmers in the game.
Chen Gong – Another one-star who punches absurdly above his rarity. His sacrificial NP mechanic eliminates a front-line Servant on use, but the trade-off opens the door for back-line supports. Devastating when used correctly.
Ibuki-Douji (Berserker) – Monstrous Buster damage in a Berserker package. She is among the hardest-hitting wave clearers available and rewards teams built around maximizing her NP damage.
Lady Avalon – The Arts equivalent of Merlin’s Buster dominance. She fuels NP gauge consistently and supports Arts compositions with rare efficiency.
Melusine – Elite single-target damage with the flexibility to shift between AoE and ST Noble Phantasm modes. One of the best all-around offensive Servants in the current roster.
Merlin – The grandfather of support Servants. He provides Guts, heals, Buster buffs, and star generation that has kept him relevant through years of power creep.
Scathach-Skadi – The original Quick meta enabler. Her buffing and NP charging capabilities defined an entire era of FGO gameplay.
Sima Yi (Reines) – A premier offensive support who provides NP charge, damage buffs, and defense piercing that most other supports cannot match.
Xu Fu – A newer Arts support addition who competes directly with the top-tier support roster. She is the strongest Arts buffer to debut in recent updates.
Zhuge Liang (El-Melloi II) – The permanent support option available through the Story Gacha. His debuff and NP charge tools remain competitive despite his age.

A+ Tier Servants

The elite performers who dominate specific roles or content types. These are the Fate/Grand Order best servants for most players who do not have full EX rosters. Check out all the FGO servants in this tier:

Space Ereshkigal – The 9th Anniversary Servant debuts directly at A+. She is a Beast-Class AoE Arts looper with Class Advantage over all Extra Classes. Her Master Favorability gauge builds across battle and unlocks Ignore Invincible at Level 7 and 50 Critical Stars at Level 10. A compelling mix of farming utility and endgame power.
Beni-Enma – Jumped from A to A+ after her Rank Up. She gained a 30% NP charge and an Arts buff, pushing her into the conversation for the best single-target Sabers.
Altria Caster (Berserker) – High damage and strong Arts support wrapped in a Berserker shell. A powerful offensive option for Arts compositions.
Amor (Caren) – A strong AoE Arts Ruler with useful anti-trait damage. She hits multiple damage type checks simultaneously.
Kama – A premier single-target Assassin with devastating anti-Human Noble Phantasm potential. One of the best ST damage dealers in the game.
Melusine (Ruler) – Her Ruler version brings a different skill set from the EX- Lancer. She is a strong AoE damage dealer in her own right.
Miyamoto Musashi (Berserker) – Enormous Buster damage with unique anti-Trait bonuses. A serious farming threat in the right setup.
Monte Cristo – Avenger-class single-target powerhouse with exceptional anti-Good damage output. One of the most satisfying servants to use in long fights.
Morgan – A strong AoE farmer with bonus damage against specific traits. Her high base stats and NP charge make her a reliable back-to-back looper.
Space Ishtar – One of the most flexible AoE Servants in the game. She can switch her NP’s card type, adapting to any support setup.
Super Orion – A support who also deals impressive personal damage. He is one of the rare hybrid performers who competes in both the carry and the support lanes.
Tamamo-no-Mae – The original Arts support. She reduces NP cooldowns and provides party heals that remain competitive even in modern rosters.
Van Gogh – An Avenger whose stacking poison and madness debuffs create one of the most distinctive damage-over-time kits in the game.

A Tier Servants

Solid, versatile, and genuinely competitive performers. Many of these Servants received notable Rank Up upgrades recently. Check out all the FGO servants in this tier:

Cleopatra – Moved from B+ to A thanks to her 30% NP charge upgrade. She now reliably loops in double Koyanskaya / Oberon setups. Her Imperial Privilege buffs finally land consistently thanks to the new success rate bonus.
Iskandar – Jumped dramatically from C+ to A. His Charisma upgrade added a 30% NP charge, solving his biggest weakness. He now loops cleanly and hits as hard as any AoE Buster Rider in the current roster.
Asclepius – A top-tier support healer with powerful resurrection tools. He received upgrade attention in the Rank Up Campaign and remains one of the strongest defensive supports available.
Gilgamesh – The King of Heroes performs reliably as an AoE Archer with strong anti-Servant damage bonuses. He has stayed relevant across multiple meta shifts.
Heracles – Bond 10 Heracles with Guts stacking is one of the most legendary survival kits in the entire game. Still a monster for difficult content.
Mash Kyrielight – The free permanent defensive support every player has. Her shielding, damage reduction, and Invincible tools are irreplaceable in difficult quest scenarios.
Miyamoto Musashi – The ST Saber version remains a strong Buster single-target choice with reliable anti-Male and anti-Divine Noble Phantasm bonuses.
Mordred – A consistent AoE Buster Saber with good self-sufficiency. Solid in most Saber-favored content.
Okita Souji – A quick-hitting ST Saber with high hit counts that generate excellent NP and stars. Still one of the best quick single-target Sabers in the roster.
Qin Shi Huang – An almost unkillable solo Servant with unique damage-nullifying mechanics. The go-to pick for high-difficulty survival challenges.
Scathach – A top ST Lancer with powerful Divine and Undead trait bonuses. Her anti-Divine Noble Phantasm remains one of the most satisfying in the game.
Sigurd – Exceptional single-target Saber damage with strong anti-Dragon bonuses. His Buster chain capabilities make him a genuine threat in the right team.

B+ Tier and Below

These Servants perform well in specific niches or content types. Many B-tier picks were top-tier in previous metas and remain viable for players without deeper rosters. Check out the key standouts:

Abigail Williams – Received a Rank Up and moved to B+. Her Outer-class damage and unique debuff kit give her a distinct role in longer fights.
Nitocris (Assassin) – Her Rank Up bumped her utility meaningfully. She remains a viable farming Servant with strong instant-death application.
James Moriarty (Ruler) – Moved up with his Rank Up. His Ruler class grants broad class advantage while his offensive buffs keep him relevant for Buster teams.
Nursery Rhyme – Got upgrade attention in the Rank Up Campaign. A creative Caster with solid Arts looping potential for players without the EX support roster.
Heroine X – A beloved fan-favorite ST Saber with strong anti-Saber trait damage. Good for dedicated Saber-slaying content.
Emiya (Archer) – A classic AoE Archer who can operate somewhat self-sufficiently. He is not meta but is a dependable fallback for players building earlier rosters.
Atalante – Strong Quick AoE potential with star generation. She shines in Quick-focused compositions but lacks the raw damage of higher-tier Archers.
Frankenstein – One of the best budget Buster farmers with a self-damage NP charge mechanic that enables independent looping without top-tier supports.

FGO Servants: Roles Explained

FGO does not use a simple DPS and Healer split. Understanding what each role actually does in a three-turn farming context matters far more than raw damage numbers:

AoE Farmers – Servants who wipe entire waves with their Noble Phantasm. Arjuna Alter, Koyanskaya, and Oberon-era compositions revolve around these units.
ST Damage Dealers – Single-target specialists built for bosses and challenge quests. Kama, Melusine, and Monte Cristo lead this category.
Offensive Supports – Servants who buff damage, charge NP, and enable looping. The EX tier is almost entirely made up of offensive supports.
Defensive Supports – Mash, Asclepius, and Merlin keep teams alive through sustained fights and high-damage challenge quests.

Every placement in this Fate/Grand Order tier list accounts for the following criteria:

NP Loop Potential – Can this Servant refill their NP gauge across back-to-back waves? Three-turn looping is the gold standard for farming efficiency.
Support Synergy – Does this Servant work in double support compositions? Servants who slot naturally into Koyanskaya, Oberon, or Skadi setups rank higher.
Challenge Quest Viability – Farming is not everything. Servants with survival tools, debuff immunity, or anti-boss damage bonuses are valued for harder content.
