If you want to know which Echomancers are worth building and which ones to skip, this Ash Echoes tier list covers every character in the game so you can pull smarter and progress faster. Ash Echoes is a real-time tactical gacha RPG that blends strategy with stunning anime aesthetics, set in a post-apocalyptic world where you command a squad of Echomancers through a beautifully written narrative.
Knowing who sits at the top of the current Ash Echoes meta list can make a dramatic difference in how far you push through content. This tier list for Ash Echoes objectively ranks all characters across five tiers so you always know the priority heroes to invest your resources in.

How the Ash Echoes Tier List Works
Ash Echoes characters, called Echomancers, are divided by class and element. Every Echomancer has a unique combat role, elemental affinity, and skill set that determines how they slot into team compositions. Rankings in this Ash Echoes character tier list account for damage output, support value, team synergy, how well each character scales into late game, and their overall usefulness across Story Mode, Exploration, and Speedrun content.
| Tier | What It Means |
| S Tier | The strongest Echomancers in the game right now. Priority for pulling and resource investment. |
| A Tier | Excellent characters that perform well across most content and team compositions. |
| B Tier | Solid mid-tier picks that are useful early to mid-game but begin to fall off in the late game. |
| C Tier | Situational characters that may shine in specific scenarios but are generally outclassed. |
| D Tier | Weakest options in the current meta. Best avoided for long-term investment. |
One important note before the rankings: Ash Echoes is genuinely F2P friendly. You get three free 6-star characters through the beginner gacha (a guaranteed 6-star after 30 pulls), another after 300 total pulls, and a third upon finishing Chapter 3. Rerolling is not necessary here, which is rare and commendable for a gacha game. Just play and follow the tier list to decide who to build.

Cen Ying is widely considered the gold standard for physical damage dealers in Ash Echoes. As a Tactician-class Echomancer, her signature ability Stellar Parade deploys five Drone Light Seekers that patrol the battlefield and maintain consistent pressure. She scales exceptionally well with investment and is especially strong in prolonged fights where her sustained output outpaces burst-heavy alternatives. Her drones also create battlefield control and trigger elemental reactions when paired correctly.

Cyros brings unmatched fire damage flexibility with access to both Human and Cannis forms, letting him adapt to different combat situations on the fly. His abilities including Daybreak and Bloodline Mark deliver devastating AoE fire damage that clears mob waves and chunks boss health pools effectively. He is one of the two core characters in any Fire team composition and one of the first names to chase for new players.
Longqing is the best healer in Ash Echoes by a meaningful margin. She provides shields and grants bonus healing output to shielded allies, which creates a layered survival loop that keeps teams alive through the hardest content in the game. She holds her value deep into the late game rather than falling off the way most early-game healers do, which is exactly what you want from a healer investment.
Freda is arguably the biggest surprise on this entire Ash Echoes character list. She is only a 5-star character but functions as one of the best supports in the game regardless of rarity. Her kit includes healing, ally buffs, and cooldown reduction for allies, which benefits every team composition she joins. She is also flexible enough to slot into basically any team. Pull her duplicates whenever you can since her scaling with dupes is excellent.
Boreas is the premier CRIT buffer in the game. His healing mechanic works differently from standard healers since he places shields on allies that convert into healing over time. His burst ability grants 50% CRIT Rate to all allies and 100% CRIT Rate to summons, which makes him indispensable in Cen Ying, Luke, and Elpis team compositions built around summoner synergies. He is one of the strongest supportive options in the game.
Feng Qingxue is one of the highest raw damage ceilings of any Echomancer and is frequently cited as the strongest character on the CN server. As an Ice Skirmisher she deals exceptional damage with excellent scaling into late game content and is particularly strong in speedrun scenarios.
Luke is a Physical Tactician who pairs naturally with Cen Ying in summoner team compositions. His active skill Deadly Delivery deals massive physical damage across a 250-unit radius and his kit also includes Taunt and barrier mechanics that give him surprising utility beyond pure damage. He can slot into teams outside the summoner archetype as well, making him one of the more versatile S-tier picks.
Thea is a uniquely designed Specialist who can record her allies’ HP at a given moment and rewind that HP back to those levels in a crisis. This means she can functionally replace a dedicated healer on some teams while also reducing fire resistance, generating fire zones, and intercepting aerial enemies that would otherwise threaten the Fire team. Her flexibility across multiple roles puts her firmly in S-tier.
Tish is a Lightning damage dealer with access to infinite skill uses and the distinction of being one of the first characters in the game capable of placing a Lightning Zone on the battlefield. She is fast, versatile, and continuously generates value in extended fights. She does need time to ramp up and benefits significantly from three duplicates to reach her absolute ceiling, but even at zero dupes she is a strong S-tier pick.
Skylar is the primary Anti-Air specialist in the roster and earns her S-tier placement through excellent aerial target elimination, barrier destruction, and the ability to lock enemies into a zone for extended periods. Her summons reduce Lightning resistance on enemies, which makes her a natural pairing with Jean and Uni. She particularly dominates in maps with wet environments where she can apply high-frequency crowd control.
Mo Hongxiu is the best tank in Ash Echoes. She creates Barriers to block enemies and generates Fire Zones that trigger elemental reactions while dealing damage. She is one of the two required characters for the Fire Team core composition and her crowd control through enemy displacement is some of the best in the game.
Lorelle is a Corrosion Vanguard who functions as both a dedicated tank and a sub-DPS, making her one of the more versatile characters on the S-tier list. Her Prelude active skill provides Basic Damage Reduction while layering multiple buff effects, and she slots naturally into corrosion team compositions where she enables further Corrosion resistance shredding.
Murkrain is a battlefield manipulation Specialist with one of the most unique kits in the game. He excels at controlling enemy positioning and dictating the flow of fights in ways that standard DPS characters cannot replicate. His niche is powerful and his placement in S-tier reflects how impactful that control is at the highest levels of content.
Xuan Ge is one of the newest additions to the global roster and brings exceptional versatility and team support capabilities that earned him an immediate S-tier placement. His Memory Trace Silence is considered one of the strongest in the game and serves as a must-pull for players running Skirmisher-heavy team compositions.
Jean is a Lightning Striker and one of the best characters in the game for speedrun content specifically. Her damage ramps up fast and she synergizes directly with Skylar and Tish in Lightning team compositions, with those three forming one of the most potent elemental trios in the current meta.

A-Tier Echomancers
A-tier characters in this Ash Echoes character list are genuinely excellent picks that hold up across most team compositions and content types. They are great primary or secondary options, particularly strong in their specific elemental roles, and are completely worth building if you pull them.
| Character | Element | Class | Role |
| Labolas | – | – | DPS |
| Tikka | – | – | Support |
| Midas | Physical | – | Burst DPS / Debuffer |
| Kylin | Lightning | Vanguard | Frontline DPS |
| Oriyuki | – | – | Support |
| Titia | Water | Tactician | Speedrun Support |
| Baili Tusu | Fire | Striker | AoE DPS / Anti-Air |
| Solbyrd von Luminberg | – | – | Support / Tank |
| Elpis | – | – | Summoner |
| Leilani | Corrosion | Ranger | Speedrun DPS |
| Hassel | – | – | DPS |
| Ivana | – | – | Support |
| Furay and Furney | – | – | Utility / DPS |
| Tong | – | – | Support |
| Zodivin Azure | – | – | Healer |
| Lydia | – | – | DPS |
| Sambheka | – | – | Support |
| Felicio | – | – | ATK Speed Buffer (5-Star) |
Baili Tusu operates in the same damage class as Cyros but adds Anti-Air capability to his kit, making him useful in content where aerial enemies are a problem. As a Fire Striker, he is best deployed in a dedicated Fire team and his performance against barrier-type enemies is particularly notable. If you are running a Fire team without Cyros, Baili Tusu is his closest replacement.

Zodivin Azure is the second-best healer in the game behind Longqing. She brings solid heals, resistances, and decent damage output, and can serve as a Leader to provide additional passive bonuses. Her main limitation is a squishier stat profile that requires some management in harder content.
Midas is a Physical Echomancer who can efficiently deliver big bursts of damage, break block gauges, and debuff enemies by turning their own defenses against them. When any Physical Echomancer’s summon deals damage, Midas’s own summon launches a follow-up attack, creating excellent synergy with Cen Ying and Luke in summoner teams. The first dupe is recommended but not required, making him accessible for F2P players.
Titia is a Water Tactician that is incredible in speedrun content specifically. She is one of the fastest team support characters for clearing content quickly and synergizes well with other speedrun-focused team compositions.
Leilani is another speedrun specialist, this time a Corrosion Ranger. She is considered essential for players who prioritize leaderboard-level speedrun performance and her value in that specific context puts her firmly in A-tier.
Felicio is another 5-star punching above his rarity class. He grants significant attack speed buffs to allies, deals AoE damage, and remains useful into mid-to-late game before starting to fall off slightly. If you pull him, he is absolutely worth using through the majority of the game’s content.
Ivana is a solid support whose value is underestimated by newer players. She provides consistent team utility and holds her own in team compositions built around specific elemental alignments. Like Freda and Felicio, she proves that 5-star Echomancers in Ash Echoes are genuinely competitive and not just filler.
B-Tier Echomancers
B-tier Ash Echoes characters are solid options that perform reliably in the early and mid-game but begin to show their limitations as you push into harder late-game content. Use them to fill out your roster while you build stronger options.
| Character | Element | Class | Role |
| Caroline | Corrosion | – | DPS / Healer |
| Shiratori Azusa | – | – | DPS |
| Begonia | – | – | Support |
| Sorley | – | – | Support |
| Reid | – | – | DPS |
| Aceo | Corrosion | – | CC / DPS (5-Star) |
| Yuqi | – | – | Support |
| Mars | – | – | DPS |
| Tian Ruo | – | – | Tank / Healer |
Caroline works best in Corrosion team compositions, mainly thanks to her Leader skill which provides meaningful buffs for the whole team when she is set as the active leader. She also has some healing built into her kit despite being a primary DPS, which gives her a bit more utility than typical damage dealers at this tier.

Aceo is a 5-star character with solid crowd control tools who can be used in Corrosion team compositions alongside Caroline. He needs a decent amount of upgrades before he starts feeling impactful, but his CC value in specific team builds keeps him in B-tier rather than below.
Tian Ruo is the most reliable early-game tank in the roster. He can soak damage, provide some healing, and anchor your front line during the chapters where stronger alternatives are not yet available. He will get replaced as you unlock higher-tier tanks and healers, but he is a great bridge character for the early game.
C-Tier Echomancers
C-tier characters in this Ash Echoes best characters breakdown have specific use cases or perform adequately in the early game, but they are generally outclassed by the time mid-game content starts ramping up.
| Character | Element | Class | Notes |
| Gina | – | – | Early-game filler |
| Pris | – | – | Limited mid-game use |
| Roar | Fire | – | Decent in Fire teams, falls off late |
| Su Xiao | – | Specialist | Revive / Shield early game |
| Xiangling | – | – | Early filler |
| Sephonis | – | – | Situational |
| Bellia | – | – | Weak scaling |
| Shu | – | – | Filler |
| Ms. Lew | – | – | Niche use |
| Changyao | – | – | Weak overall |
| Gauya | – | – | Limited use |
| Infa | – | – | Low impact |
| Boss | – | Specialist | ATK Speed buffer (concept 10/10, power 3/10) |
Roar is a decent damage dealer in Fire team compositions with okay output, but her ceiling is low enough that she should be replaced by stronger Fire options as soon as they become available.

Su Xiao is useful in the early chapters thanks to a revive mechanic, shields, and an HP buff in her kit. She also has niche value in Revival team compositions for speedrun content, where her ability to stack Inspire is consistently useful. In standard content, she falls off sharply after the early game.
Boss deserves a special mention because this character is literally a cat named BOSS that throws dried fish at enemies and buffs allies’ attack speed by a significant amount. On pure concept it is a 10-out-of-10 design and one of the most memorable additions to any Ash Echoes character list. In practice though, the numbers just do not hold up well enough in the late game to rank Boss higher. Iconic character, C-tier performance.
D-Tier Echomancers
D-tier characters sit at the bottom of the Ash Echoes meta list and are best viewed as temporary placeholders during the earliest stages of the game before you build out a proper roster.

| Character | Notes |
| Di Yan | Weak overall kit, quickly replaced |
| Emaha | Low damage ceiling, limited use |
| Huo Ran | Lacks the scaling to compete |
| Lanlan | Early-game only |
| Bubbles | Minimal impact at any stage |
| Rodney | Outclassed across all roles |
| Sweeper-EX | Limited utility |
| Fortuni | Bottom of the roster |
None of these characters are worth investing significant resources in beyond what is needed to get through the early stages. Replace them with B-tier or higher Echomancers as quickly as your pulls allow.
Ash Echoes Summoning System Explained
Characters in Ash Echoes are obtained through the Resonate (gacha) system. Here is how it works for new players:
Standard Resonate pools the full roster at standard rates. Limited Resonate banners feature specific characters at boosted rates and are time-limited, making them the priority targets for saving currency. As mentioned earlier, the beginner gacha is one of the most generous in any mobile RPG right now.
You get a guaranteed 6-star character after your first 30 pulls (three ten-pulls), a second after 300 total pulls, and a third when you complete Chapter 3. This means every new player starts the game with at minimum three 6-star characters, which is an exceptional foundation.
Resonance Keys are the premium currency used for pulls. They can be earned through Story progression, Daily Missions, Weekly tasks, Events, and Achievement rewards.
Duplicate characters provide Resonance (dupe) upgrades rather than wasted pulls. Certain characters like Uni and Tish have notable power spikes at specific dupe counts, so it is worth prioritizing duplicates for S-tier characters you plan to invest in heavily.

Tips for Building the Best Characters in Ash Echoes
A few universal tips that apply across all Echomancers regardless of tier:
- Focus on completing all available Story chapters and events before worrying too much about team optimization. The free 6-star characters from natural progression give you a strong starting roster, and spending time in the actual game is the fastest way to build your resource pool for future pulls.
- Memory Traces are essentially the equipment system of Ash Echoes and they make a bigger difference than many new players expect. Investing in the right Memory Trace set for your primary carry can dramatically increase their effectiveness. Xuan Ge’s Silence Memory Trace in particular is one of the highest-impact equipment picks in the current meta.
- Elemental teams outperform mixed teams significantly once you have enough characters to fill the slots. Prioritizing pulling for the same elemental characters that your existing S-tier carries use is almost always more efficient than diversifying into multiple elements early on.
- 5-star characters are meaningfully useful in Ash Echoes, which is not always the case in gacha games. Freda, Felicio, Ivana, and Aceo are all competitive contributors whose impact should not be underestimated just because of their rarity.
