The eighteenth instalment in the Need for Speed racing video game series, Need for Speed: The Run, was released in 2011. It was published by Electronic Arts and made available on November 15, 2011, with versions created by EA Black Box for the PlayStation 3, Windows, and Xbox 360 and by Firebrand Games for the 3DS and Wii. EA Mobile had intended to create an iOS version; however, it was ultimately scrapped. The game centres on point-to-point races in which players must pass rivals, conquer foes, beat the clock, and avoid being stopped by law enforcement and criminal gang members.
Gameplay
For most event categories, winning the race requires players to pass rivals. The players must stop their vehicle from being destroyed while under assault in time attack events and survival games. Depending on their performance, cars are categorized into tiers. The player can stop at a gas station to switch out their vehicle and customize its appearance during a race. In contrast to earlier Need for Speed games, the Run includes moments where players quit their automobile and move on foot. Only quick-time events may be played in these areas.
The game's driving style is said to "sit halfway between Shift and Hot Pursuit," not as arcade- or simulator-styled as Hot Pursuit or Shift. Each car in The Run "presents a different driving challenge for the player," according to the game's description, and includes the typical mix of muscle cars, street racers, and upscale exotics. The Pagani Huayra and the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S have been exclusively digitalized for the game.
Multiplayer Mode
