Dead Rising 2, the sequel to the multi-million dollar hit Dead Rising, brings the zombie survival horror to Fortune City, the newest and best entertainment destination in the United States. Dead Rising 2 raises the bar for zombie survival horror with a brand-new narrative, two online multiplayer modes (a 2-player co-op campaign and a 4-player "TV show" themed Pay-Per-View event that puts humans against zombies), thousands of on-screen undead, and more.

The protagonist, Chuck Greene, is controlled by the player as he repels zombie hordes and completes objectives. Several brand-new weapons are included in the game that can be utilised against the undead. The number of zombies that can be seen on screen at once reaches 7,000. 

Dead Rising 2 offers multiple opportunities for players to create their unique weapons by gathering materials and fusing them in maintenance rooms sprinkled throughout the game world. The player can acquire "combo cards," which disclose weapon combinations.
