In the world of The Escapists, Team 17 created the cooperative adventure Game, The Survivalists. In this Game, the player awakens on a deserted island and must use building, crafting, hunting, and combat to live.

Gameplay

While the player explores and learns the earth's secrets, the landscape alters with day/night cycles and various biomes. Due to the wildness' randomly generated nature, each player experiences a distinct adventure. There are several mythical foes to face off against and animals to hunt for food (some of which will chase the player). The player can carry out tasks assigned by Taskmasters, exchange goods for Doubloons or Trinket tokens with an Unknown Stranger, defend their shelters from enemies, explore labyrinths and caves, and gather resources throughout the archipelago.

Up to four players can construct, trade, do quests, gather loot, and engage in survival combat. The monkeys on the island can be educated to help with daily duties or as backup fighters on raids on a fanatic camp if one needs a builder, a logger, or even a soldier. These cheeky new buddies can execute a wide range of tasks thanks to the Mimic System, and mastering monkey management is essential to navigating the island's difficulties.

Utilizing the resources at your disposal is the key to survival. For instance, they put together a crude axe to chop wood or prepare a fruit smoothie to stave off hunger. The player will learn recipes to increase their selection of foods, goods, or building types.

The island is covered in mysterious temples, some of which may hold epic weapons and other treasures but are undoubtedly carefully guarded. Planning and preparation are required for treasure hunting.
