In this multiplayer and cooperative Source Engine-based Game, Insurgency takes to the streets for an intense close-quarters battle where a team's existence rests upon securing key strongholds and destroying opponent supply. Insurgency, the award-winning Source mod's sequel, strikes a balance between one-life gameplay and protracted combat. It is fiercely competitive and mercilessly lethal.
- Numerous attachments, no crosshair, and a focus on realistic weapon behaviour, such as a free-aim system and strong suppression effects, are present in the more than 40 weapons.
- Sixteen playable maps with settings from the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia are available daily and night versions for different multiplayer and cooperative Game types.
- Seven multiplayer Game modes can accommodate up to 32 players, with a focus on escorting valuable targets, controlling territory, and destroying weapon stockpiles.
- There are five cooperative Game modes where you and your friends work together to accomplish mission-based goals.

Multiplayer Game Modes:
Push - The attacking squad must sequentially take three territorial objectives. They get more reinforcements and more time to attack the next goal with each one they take. Defenders must make the most of their limited supply of support. The attackers must demolish a fourth cache objective after taking the third objective, and the defenders only have one life left to make a last stand.
Firefight - Three territorial goals—one for each club and one for the neutral team. Only after a team completes an objective does each team respawn. To win, either complete all tasks or eliminate every adversary. Every life matters, making for a tremendously suspenseful experience that depends on cooperation.
Skirmish - Each side has a supply cache to guard in addition to three territorial objectives. Up until their stock is destroyed, teams receive additional waves of reinforcement. It changes to a Firefight match when both teams have lost all of their reinforcement waves and caches.
Occupy - There is a single dominant territorial goal in the region. Its controlling team does not exhaust waves of reinforcements. The gameplay in this mode is similar to "tug of war" or King of the Hill.
Ambush - The extraction point must be escorted by a high-value target (HVT). One team wants to make this happen, and the other team is determined to stop it. The HVT can take a weapon from a fallen foe or teammate while only carrying a silenced handgun.
Strike - The attacking squad must destroy three weapon caches to win. The attackers gain more troops and gain more time when they kill a stash. Once the opposition team's supply of reinforcements runs out, the defenders must prevent the destruction of at least one cache and defeat the opposing team.
Infiltrate - Capture the Flag mode as usual, but with a difference. Your team's objective is to bring intelligence from the opposition back to your base. Only when the opponent's intelligence is taken or an adversary stealing it from your team is defeated will your team receive reinforcements. Strong teamwork and planning are essential in this mode.
Flashpoint - Two caches on each side and one neutral territorial objective. The objectives include securing the entire territory, taking control of the centre, and eliminating enemy caches. They respawn when your team defeats a cache objective or ties the territorial goal.
Elimination - Attackers in this one-life Game must either destroy one of two weapon caches or defeat the opposing squad within the allotted time. Defenders must eliminate attackers.
Cooperative Game Modes:
Checkpoint - Combat an AI enemy while completing mission-based goals in order. Anyone who dies while achieving a goal will respawn after each successful completion.
Hunt - While identifying and destroying the weapons cache, your squad must eliminate all targets because the insurgents are distributed around the area. High levels of strain and one life.
Survival - On maps with a nighttime atmosphere, play as Insurgents and unending battle waves of increasingly formidable Security foes. Your team earns supplies to buy more potent weaponry when you complete safehouse missions with them. Dead comrades are also resurrected.
Outpost - Protect your supply cache from the never-ending enemy waves attempting to destroy it. Each wave you successfully repel will bring in more of your teammates.
Conquer - Take control of the nearby targets and protect them from intruders attempting to retake them. Destroy enemy weapon stockpiles to reduce the enemy population.
