The dramatic first-person action of STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast™ carries on the legacy of Star Wars Dark Forces and Star Wars® Jedi Knight. Jedi Outcast gives the player access to several Star Wars-related weapons, including lightsabers and Force abilities. Each gun, including the Lightsaber, has a first-person or third-person perspective that the player can select. The shooter genre's conventional combat features a wide range of energy, projectile weapons, and numerous explosives. The health and shield metres for each player are independently refilled.
The use of the Lightsaber is heavily emphasised in Jedi Outcast. Lightsabers can be used to deflect blaster blasts, just like in the movies. Three different lightsaber styles—fast, medium, and strong—are available in the game, each of which differs in terms of attack speed and damage output. Additionally, there are a variety of combos, many of which are exclusive to the chosen sabre style.
In both single-player and multiplayer modes, force powers (including Push, Jump, and Lightning) are available; however, more controls can be used in the latter. A "Force Meter" that runs out with each usage and steadily fills up over time limits the use of fuels. The "Level" of a Force power controls its potency and how much of the Force metre is used up when it is activated. [14] Players are split into Light Siders and Dark Siders in multiplayer mode, and each side faces the other in team battles.
Both shared "Neutral" Force abilities, which primarily enhance athleticism and speed, are available to both sides. Both the Light and Dark sides possess a variety of unique skills. Like earlier games, Light Side powers are primarily geared at healing and protection, while Dark Side powers are overtly hostile. Kyle, however, does not only choose Light or Dark forces in the single-player mode; instead, he is given a choice of both.
