In Observation, the artificial intelligence S.A.M. of the space station is used to reconstruct the events that occurred to Dr Emma Fisher and the mission's crew. To help Emma learn what is happening to the station, the missing unit, and S.A.M., players take on the role of S.A.M. and use the station's control mechanisms, cameras, and tools.
You're not on the channel but are on the station.
Discover the true Essence of yourself, your crew, and the enigmatic always-present hexagon on Saturn in a narrative adventure that combines puzzles, exploration, and cosmic existential dread.
Key Features
- I was trying to uncover what went to Dr Emma Fisher in a science fiction thriller.
- We combine cosmic existential dread, puzzles, exploration, and narrative adventure.
- Learn the truth about yourself, your team, and the enigmatic, perpetual hexagon on Saturn.
Gameplay
The Game Observation is an adventure. The player assumes control of S.A.M. (Systems Administration & Maintenance), an artificial intelligence programme that oversees the international space station. S.A.M. can transfer its core presence across various of the station's modules as the Game advances, allowing it to operate cameras and other electronically controlled equipment in that module. At first, the player can only see the area where the crew has relocated S.A.M. Later, S.A.M. is given one of several tiny spherical probes that let it move around the space station more quickly and into dangerous settings that could endanger the humans inside, such as outside the station.
By controlling S.A.M., the player can operate several station features, including opening and closing hatches and turning on safety features. The crew may give S.A.M. instructions to carry out specific tasks; in response, S.A.M. may locate the task element of concern (such as the condition of a station module) and inform the crew.
Plot
The narrative begins in 2026 onboard the international space station Observation, orbiting the Earth. 'Observation' has been rendered unable to function due to an unidentified occurrence, spinning in place. The station's medical officer, Dr Emma Fisher (Kezia Burrows), makes unsuccessful attempts to contact Houston and the other five crew members to learn what transpired.
The player takes on the role of S.A.M. (Anthony Howell), the station's built-in A.I., who successfully reboots the station's systems and operations.
After running some simple diagnostics to determine what went wrong, S.A.M. gets a communication from an unknown source with coordinates for an undisclosed location. Then, with a loud boom, the station starts to shake erratically. S.A.M. is told to "BRING HER" after becoming unresponsive to Emma while under the influence of the signal.
Once an arbitrary amount of time has passed, S.A.M. awakens to find Emma unconscious after the second incident. When she finally awakens, she immediately tells S.A.M. to perform a self-diagnosis. S.A.M. tells Emma the catastrophe has led him to lose almost all of his core data and be isolated from most of the station's components. Also, he is still looking for the other missing crew members.
S.A.M. tries to re-interface with the remainder of the space shuttle and reattach to his components as Emma works to restore some of his limited capabilities. A station alert sounds shortly after Emma regains mobility, and S.A.M. is sent to investigate. One of the units has a fire, as discovered by S.A.M.
After putting out the fire, they come upon what Emma described as a dark crimson oil-like material on a blank plate. Before she can imagine what it is, an alarm goes off. According to S.A.M., the station is under tremendous stress due to a dislodged module, which advised her to eject the m
