First-person shooter survival horror Doom 3 was released in 2004 by Activision and created by id Software. Doom 3 was first made available for Microsoft Windows on August 3, 2004, modified for Linux, and then converted to Mac OS X by Aspyr Media in 2005. The Xbox version of the Game was created by Vicarious Visions and released on April 3, 2005. In the year 2145, a military-industrial corporation established a scientific research centre on Mars, where it conducts studies into topics including teleportation, biological research, and sophisticated weapon creation.
The teleportation experiments create a portal to Hell, allowing demons to wreak havoc on the Mars facility. The actions of the previous games are not taken into account in the first Doom series relaunch, Doom 3. The id Tech 4 Game Engine, used in Doom 3, was subsequently licenced to other programmers and distributed in November 2011 under the GNU General Public License v3.0.
Theresurrection of Evil, an extra pack created by Nerve Software, was released in April 2005 after the Game. The first of Matthew J. Costello's Doom 3 novelizations was published in February 2008. An edition based on the BFG Version of the GameGame was published without online multiplayer, titled Doom 3, for Android in June 2015 and for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in July 2019. Doom 3: BFG Edition, an expanded and remastered edition, was announced in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Single-player
A first-person action Game with a storyline is called Doom 3. The main goal of Doom III is to complete each Level by eliminating all of the enemies that are trying to kill the player's character. However, due to Doom 3's more narrative-focused design, the player will frequently come across amiable non-player characters who offer essential plot details, goals, and inventory items. Ten weapons are included in the Game for players to live with, including standard guns such as a shotgun, submachine Pistol, grenades, futuristic plasma weaponry, and the deadly BFG 9000 and chainsaw weapons from the Doom series. Although enemies can take many shapes and have various skills and strategies, they can be broadly divided into two groups: zombies and demons.
Multiplayer
The developers included four Game types and a four-player multiplayer component in the release of Doom 3. However, a change was made by the Game's community to increase this to eight or sixteen players. The player restriction would eventually be officially raised to eight with the Resurrection of Evil expansion. Every one of the four Game modes is a deathmatch. Each player moves around a Level in the traditional deathmatch Game style, gathering weapons and murdering other players. When the timer expires, the person with the highest kill total wins. The same idea is applied in a team variant. In the third Game mode, "last man standing," players have a finite number of respawns and lose a life whenever they are killed. Eventually, every participant except for one will be taken out of the Game, making the last player standing the winner. The final Game mode is called "tournament," when two players battle it out while the other players stand by and watch. The winner of the conflict stays in the Arena and engages each opponent one at a time until the victor of earlier rounds is beaten. The new winner stays to face the following player while the loser is moved to the audience. The primary single-player Game for Doom 3 on Xbox includes a second two-player cooperative option.
