The Park (Global) (PC) - Steam - Digital Key

The Park is a one to two-hour-long first-person psychological thriller experience that emphasises compelling storytelling and exploration more than action and fighting. It is set in a spooky amusement park that hides a dark and terrible secret.

Storyline

A toddler goes missing, and a teddy bear gets lost, and a day at the Park. You must hunt through Atlantic Island Park's outdated rides as the sun sets to find your kid, Callum. As night falls, a narrative crafted by a group of acclaimed storytellers will make you feel terror and paranoia.

Amusement parks are joyful settings, with childhood delights and the thrilling rush of fantastic rides that beg to be braved. When eccentric businessman Nathaniel Winter first envisioned Atlantic Island Park, he did it in 1977.

Regrettably, the Park's past has been marred by tragedy and intrigue. Locals fear the Park will continue to claim innocent lives despite the dramatic headlines generated by its bizarre incidents, horrific killings, and spooky apparitions.

It was the start of Lorraine's worst nightmare.

Warning: This experience discusses material that some people may find emotionally upsetting. A player's best judgement is advised.

Key Features

  • Visit Atlantic Island Park and ride the rollercoaster, bumper cars, and Ferris wheel, but be careful because some rides have a mind.
  • Explore Lorraine's thoughts as she experiences the worst parental nightmare and learn about the Park's tragic and dark past.
  • This Game is challenging to understand because the campaign is filled with psychological terror and stress, with only rare opportunities to take a few deep breaths.
  • Although there is no combat-based action, the research and realisation of your discoveries will keep you occupied for hours.

Gameplay

The player, Lorraine, interacts with and explores the run-down surroundings of Atlantic Island Park from a first-person perspective in "The Park." The Game lacks adversaries or combat, and Lorraine can only interact with a few items, mainly notes that explain the Park's history. Character Callum can be called upon by Lorraine, who can follow his voice to various locations or goals inside the Park, including the attractions. Seven different rides are available, including a roller coaster and a dark ride. The rides add to the narrative and frighten people. Lorraine recounts her emotions and recollections as she plays the Game.

Plot

The story of the Game centres on Lorraine, a widowed single mother attempting to raise her young son Callum after he disappears in Atlantic Island Park. Just as the Park is about to close for the day, Lorraine enters with her kid. As she rides the escalator up into the night, she discovers the Park to be deserted, destroyed, and in disrepair, as if years had gone. The rides and lights continue to work despite this magically. Callum is sought after by Lorraine, who follows his voice further into the run-down Park.

Lorraine travels several rides that help her understand the Game's themes and narrative. For example, the Tunnel of Stories tells the Hansel and Gretel story, and the two end up eating the witch afterwards, cooking her. Lorraine recalls Callum's father, Don, a park construction worker who died after falling from the Ferris Wheel while Lorraine still carried Callum on the ride. Between rides, Lorraine discusses her issues with Callum, her view that she is a lousy mother, her past struggles with mental illness, and her worry that Callum is affected by an unknown threat. A terrifying top-hatted ringmaster approaches Lorraine as she is on the roller coaster and claims that "the Witch" is the mother of her son.

According to records, the previous owner Archibald Henderson, 's actions left the Park's grounds contaminated with a nasty past, which the new owner Mr Winter, exploited. According to the notes, he gathered the guests' happy feelings, and the energy he released would have given him immortality. As a result, both employees and workers were anxious, and several deadly accidents happened. The Park's mascot, "Chad the Chipmunk," was implicated in one instance. Steve, the employee in the chipmunk costume, insisted on keeping it on while he used an icepick to murder a teenager. The Park was permanently shut down due to Steve's arrest and the missing of more than a dozen kids inside the House of Horrors.

Lorraine enters the witch-faced House of Horrors with Callum and remarks on how similar it is to the Hansel and Gretel tale. As the Park closed, Mr Winter withdrew his machines into the House, according to messages found inside, still seeking to become immortal. A loop of Lorraine and Callum's House across time appears inside the House, evoking memories of the video Game P.T. It is made known that Lorraine's father molested and kidnapped her when she was a young girl, that she was depressed after Callum was born, and that she received electroshock therapy. Her home changes with each iteration, getting uglier and more unsettling. In the end, she discovers a message from Mr Winter explaining that he has already abducted and murdered at least one child because he needs them for his harvesting machinery. The letters and pictures of Winter wearing a top hat and similar attire suggest he is the boogeyman stalking the grounds.
