The group "Night Blade" has served as guardians of the "Hollow Night" since the beginning of time. The Empress of the Night Blade, Linne, encounters a young boy named Hyde while taking a break from her endless labours in a plain village. Hyde is the owner of the legendary sword of destiny that Linne has been looking for worldwide.

Monsters known as Voids feed on the power that manifests in the Hollow Night, whilst In-births channel that power for their purposes. Linne learns about a malicious plot being developed by someone going by the name "Paradox" while looking into the cause of the rapid rise in both Voids and In-births in the Hollow Night. This individual turns out to be Hilda, the boss of the mysterious group known as "Amnesia."

Linne sets off into the Night with the promise to halt "Paradox" before she can carry out her evil plans. Unbeknownst to her, Hyde, the little boy she met, pursues following her in pursuit of information about who and what she is.

So starts the tale of the Hollow Night and In-births.
