From Trinidad to Tortuga, I've sailed the waters and never witnessed anything like it. I cursed Elaine's engagement ring with a nasty pirate curse. I'm certain LeChuck is responsible. I should have realized that the riches of that malicious zombie could never be used for good. In addition, the clairvoyant I encountered in the mangrove swamp warned me that I would have to sacrifice my life to break the jinx and save Elaine.
The Memoirs of Guybrush Threepwood: The Monkey Island Years, an excerpt

- The undead come to life in front of your eyes with animation, voice acting, sound effects, and film-quality music!

- Two levels of difficulty: standard and Mega-Monkey (now with extra brainteasers!)
- Upgraded insults fit for swordfights as well as other enjoyable events!
Gameplay
The adventure Game, The Curse of Monkey Island, uses point-and-click gameplay. The verb instruction and inventory menus that previously took up the lower third of the screen have been overtaken by a pop-up intervention menu and inventory chest, enabling the Game's scenes to fill the entire screen. The SCUMM Engine used to generate the interface in the earlier Monkey Island games was also utilized for this instalment. It was created using the same model as the Full Throttle system in 1995.
Guybrush's actions are managed by the player using a computer mouse and possible keyboard shortcuts. An on-screen pointer changes colour to represent things or people Guybrush might come into contact with. The action menu, which looks like a gold coin and includes three icons representing the activities connected to the hands, eyes, and mouth, can then be accessed by the player. These icons are a hand, a skull, and a parrot. The parrot is used to converse with people or consume objects. At the same time, writing is commonly employed for physical tasks like picking something up, manipulating an object, or working a device. Alternatively, right-clicking on a person can be done more quickly by pressing the right mouse button.
The player can also access their inventory, which takes up most of the screen as an open chest filled with all the stuff Guybrush has amassed. The player can try to use items by dragging and clicking them around the screen to combine them with other items in their inventories (for example, pairing a diamond with a wedding ring to create a diamond ring) or with things or people are already in the scene.
The player can pick between two difficulty settings at the Game's outset: a normal mode or a "Mega-Monkey" option with more riddles to accomplish. Similarly, during the Game's third chapter, the player is allowed to take complete charge of ship-to-ship sea fights or have Guybrush's crew assist.
