"Creation of the Akatsuki," the first of three unique animated tales, explains how the new group's members came to be. In his Tobi disguise, Obito stands before Nagato and Konan after the latter killed Hanzo of the Salamander and took leadership of the Hidden Rain Village following the events that led to Yahiko's death. Obito sends Nagato and Zetsu to find Kakuzu while Konan selects Sasori, telling them to restore the Akatsuki's ranks with ten recruits. Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigake were both personally recruited by Obito at that point. Later, Orochimaru succeeds in drawing Akatsuki's attention so that he might join their ranks for personal gain. The Akatsuki are ready to start their Quest to locate and capture the tailed Beasts after Itachi recruited Deidara and Hidan, while Kakuzu and Orochimaru recruited Hidan. The second tale describes Shisui Uchiha just before he passed away. Shisui defeats Itachi in the first battle, which starts the story. The third film, "The Far Reaches of Hope," shows Kushina Uzumaki engaging with a young Obito and the rest of Team Minato before they begin discussing Uchiha's plan.

• Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the series, worked on the Game's original character design, Mecha-Naruto, a robot version of Naruto Uzumaki with two stages of awakening: a four-tails transformation and a Mecha-Kurama transformation. 
• Mecha-Naruto plays a part in the recently added four-player Tournament Mode and appears in a two-part Naruto Shippuden episode that aired on the day the Game was released in Japan. 
• Along with the new character, Kishimoto also created new outfits for Sasori, Deidara, Hidan, Kakuzu, and Orochimaru. He also looked for a move used by Shisui Uchiha, one of the Game's new characters.
• The Game includes brand-new side tales and adheres to the series canon through the most recent animated episode. 
• These include tales involving Kushina Uzumaki, Shisui Uchiha, and Akatsuki.
