Gameplay:

You must work together in the cooperative rogue-lite action game Darksburg to flee the hordes of Infected that have settled in the cute small town of Darksburg.

Take control of one of the brave Survivors, each of whom has unique abilities and personalities, and use the many perks and skills you discover on your runs to empower them as you battle the evil revenants and legions of the undead that have overtaken this once-peaceful city.

You must work together in Darksburg, a cooperative survival action game, as hordes of Infected have decided to occupy the sleepy small town.

Take on the persona of one of the brave Survivors or, if you're feeling evil, join the ranks of the cunning Revenants. Each character has unique traits and talents, and you must learn to use them in a ridiculous battle against overwhelming odds.

An isometric action RPG called Darksburg has the vibe of a game mash-up of several different genres. The characters remind one of a grindhouse, the B-movie Dynasty Warriors, while the town of Darksburg has a mediaeval flavour. Consider Rufold, a Viking-like cook whose assaults emanate from a spoon and actual soup, or Abigail, a nun carrying a huge cross à la Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun. Each of the five characters has a distinct look that makes them all enjoyable to admire.

Each character's combat is similar to any MOBA you've played. Each character possesses one ultimate power in addition to three ordinary skills. Your team of up to four human or artificial intelligence (AI) players shares the benefits of levelling up, a strategy borrowed from Heroes of the Storm. Characters can select one of three randomly generated perks to improve their varied attacks with each level attained, up to a maximum of nine stories each run. I never encountered a perk that I thought was intrinsically awful; there is always at least one alternative that would support the build you're attempting to achieve.

The random selection will allow for the testing of various builds and for some diversity in play when you're placed outside the comfort zone of a form you appreciate; whether this is advantageous or detrimental depends entirely on the user.
