The Cold War era's tension, fear, and mistrust are expertly captured in the film DEFCON, based on the 1983 cult classic Wargames, which showcases the exciting aspects of psychological gameplay that occur during a strategic nuclear conflict. The goal is to successfully wipe off the civilian population of your adversary while protecting your own. Depending on the situation, you can gain points for the effectiveness and completeness of your atomic vendetta and the number of civilian casualties. You must eliminate the opposing population and concurrently take away the adversary's ability to retaliate against you if you want to win. It's a very challenging mission because when you attack the adversary, you expose the locations of your ground silos, submarines, and bombers when they fire nuclear weapons, leaving you open to a devastating counterattack. There must be desperate attempts to forge quick, tactical partnerships, alliances that could at any time fall apart and turn into the most treacherous and lethal of betrayals. With tense anticipation and paranoid accusations, everyone turns to face one another. In a full-blown nuclear war, everyone loses and dies; your only goal should be to lose the least amount of money possible.
Key Features :
- Players will be given a world map resembling a 1980s vector graphics computer, a variety of nuclear and conventional weapons, and the primary goal of obliterating the enemy's population while causing the least amount of destruction to one's population.
- Though functionally identical in a one-on-one conflict, each scoring system, Genocide, Survivor, and Default, suggests a different approach in more intense multiplayer battles.
- Players can alter the duration of the gameplay by changing the rate at which events happen from 20 times in real-time which can last up to eight hours, depending on the points awarded, but most matches last between 30 and 40 minutes.
- When playing in the "Office" mode, the Game can be minimized and left to run in the background while other computer-related tasks are completed. Real-time play is always included in this style.
- The player can only check in at critical events for as long as it takes to change the default settings for each player's assets while in this mode.
- Six regions are available in the Game, which can either be chosen by the player or allocated to an AI foe.
- DEFCON is a streamlined real-time strategy Game without resource gathering, technology tree upgrades, or unit creation.
- The Game starts at DEFCON 5 and counts down to DEFCON 1 as it progresses (the highest alert Level). With each increase in the alert Level, more opportunities arise.
- There can be six human or AI players in a DEFCON Game.
- DEFCON also supports local multiplayer or on a LAN, but the meta server is still used to discover games. With human participants, alliances can be made, disbanded, or renegotiated.
- A public channel is available for all players, alliance-specific private media, and direct player-to-player private messaging.
