Two young girls go to a mountain clearing to see the nighttime fireworks as their summer vacation is close. When the fireworks are over and night descends, their hometown is engulfed in darkness. The two girls are on their way home when something attacks them from the shadows, leaving them trapped in pitch black. The girls, separated and terrified, must brace themselves for the night's terrors and brave the night to locate one another and find their way home. 

As attackers close in on you, hide behind bushes and warning signs. You can use items you find in the town and the woods to solve puzzles and frighten off the ghouls. Then, find notes and enigmatic scribbling that might point to something even eerier than you might think.

• Players spend the nighttime in a town exploring to reunite the two girls and discover their way home. 
• The girl's heart rate will rise when a spirit is nearby. The player must find ways to defeat the spirits because the girls cannot defend themselves by escaping, hiding, or using an item.
• Large things, such as wooden boxes, can be pushed by players to make stepping stones, which let them pass barriers. 
• As the plot develops, the player discovers "Omamori," or charm-like objects, which affect the girls' stats, such as making stamina harder to diminish or boosting the girls' run speed.
• A flashlight is the only source of illumination. 
• While exploring, the player discovers objects and odd "spirits" that occasionally attack the player and hide in various locations, such as the shadows of mountains, on street corners, and beneath street lights. 
• The most effective approach varies depending on the spirit because each has unique characteristics.

Story:

The girls Yui and Haru became disoriented on their way home after attending a late-summer fireworks festival together in the highlands. They became separated when they released hold of one another's hands. The two girls gather their confidence and venture into a sinister night town that is very different during the day and where someone is hiding in the shadows. As the plot develops, the player will alternate between Yui and Haru's perspectives. The story of the other will be influenced by the actions, choices, and knowledge you make while playing as one character.
