Story

The game, which takes place in 2023—three years after the events of the original Crysis—begins with news footage of a widespread outbreak of the Manhattan Virus, a horrifying illness that causes total cell death, and fears of an alien invasion by the Ceph, the tentacled, squid-like alien race that caused the original Crysis incident. Due to the breakdown in social order in New York City, the U.S. Department of Defense declares martial law in Manhattan, and soldiers from C.E.L.L., a private military firm run by the Crynet corporation, enforce the law there. There's more than just this. 

Gameplay

• A first-person shooter is Crysis 2. The player takes on the character of Alcatraz, a Force Recon Marine. 
• It offers the ability to customize weapons and abilities, just like its predecessor freely. Since New York City has been referred to as an "urban jungle," Crytek sought to avoid creating another game that was set in a natural jungle environment (like Far Cry and Crysis). 
• The urban environment presents fresh possibilities for developing and organizing attacks. The ruined cityscape, levels, and buildings can all be accessed by players.
