A multiplayer-focused Arena first-person shooter that received high praise, Quake III Arena was created by id Software and published in 1999.
The base Game and Quake III: Team Arena expansion pack are now included in Quake III Arena.
An ancient alien race has invited the best warriors from all time and space to a battle for entertainment.
This fast-paced, skill-based single-player and multiplayer first-person shooter pits you against relentless opponents in futuristic and gothic arenas as you wield a range of weapons and powerups in your Quest for glory. Choose from one of five clans—The Fallen, Pagans, Crusaders, Intruders, or Stroggs—and compete for supremacy in this team-oriented official expansion pack for Quake III Arena.
Learn the advantages and disadvantages of your clan in a range of new Game styles and arenas.
Warriors who once fought the Arena alone must now band together. Players can check out more sequels.

- The combat occurs in more complicated settings and against more difficult foes as the Game advances.
- While deathmatch maps can accommodate up to 16 players, tournament maps are made for two-player matches that, in a single-player Game, would be referred to as "boss battles."
- There are various gameplay styles in Quake III Arena:
- The four types of deathmatches include Free for All (FFA), Traditional deathmatch, in which each player competes against the other players for the highest score, and Team Deathmatch (TDM).
- Deathmatch between two players that typically lasts for a predetermined amount of time, Tournament (1v1), and the symmetrical map Game Capture the Flag requires teams to capture the enemy flag from the opposition's base while defending their own.
- Multiplayer is the only purpose for which Quake III Arena was created.
- The Game has a handicap system that enables players with computers linked to a network or the internet to compete against one another in real-time.
