The home of the Norse Gods, Asgard, is the scene of an intense conflict. A Champion, a Warrior who can influence this war that threatens the fate of Asgard and the Gods themselves, must now be sought as the conflict has intensified and reached the mortal planet of Midgard.

As punishment for disobeying Odin's authority, the goddess Hel, a daughter of Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has been exiled from the heavenly realm of Asgard. She tries to free the legendary wolf-god Fenrir, who tradition says will start Ragnarok, the final conflict that would wipe away Asgard and the Gods, out of frustration with her predicament. Hel advances on the unaware mortal realm of Midgard with her army of resurrected Viking warriors.

Freya, the goddess of love and knowledge and the daughter of Odin, is tasked with halting Hel and preserving humanity's destiny. Skarin, a powerful but disturbed young warrior, forced into the middle of their ferocious conflict and unaware of the real cause for his favour with the Gods, is the one she picks as her champion.
