Call of Duty: Black Ops II pushes the limits of what fans expect from the industry-record entertainment franchise by transporting players into a 21st Century Cold War that has developed in the not-too-distant future due to the convergence of technology and weapons.
First-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops II was created by Treyarch and released by Activision. This Call of Duty Game, which debuted on November 13, 2012, is the franchise's ninth primary entry and the first to be made available on the eighth generation console (Wii U). On May 1, 2012, the direct successor to Call of Duty: Black Ops was revealed during an NBA playoff Game.
Plot
- A U.S. special operations team led by David Mason and his sidekick Mike Harper travels to "The Vault" in 2025, where they find an elderly Frank Woods, who they believe to be the key to learning Raul Menendez's whereabouts.
- Menendez recently visited him, Woods admits, and he shows them a locket he left behind. Then, Frank recounts several covert operations throughout his military career, covering their earlier meetings.
- Woods claimed that by 1986, Alex Mason had essentially left the military and lived a quiet life in Alaska with his son David, then seven years old. When Mason accepts a request from his old handler Jason Hudson, their already tense relationship becomes much more strained in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Mason, Woods, and Hudson start tracking Menendez after learning this information since he has become a key supplier of weapons for bush conflicts in Southern Africa and Latin America. Later in the year, the CIA approves an attack against the shady Nicaraguan who is now earning a tidy profit transporting weapons over Soviet-occupied Afghanistan.
The trio joins forces with Chinese agent Tian Zhao to fight the Soviets with the Afghan Mujahideen. Before killing Menendez, they track down Lev Kravchenko, who survived the grenade blast in Vietnam with Woods, and question him about his plans. Zhao and the Americans are later betrayed by the Mujahideen, who abandon them to perish in the Afghan wilderness until two unnamed civilians rescue them.
