The Dead Island: Definitive Collection includes Dead Island: Retro Revenge, an old-school beat-'em-up side-scroller created by Empty Clip Studios and the remastered (Definitive Edition) versions of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. These games were rebuilt using Techland's most recent Engine, Chrome Engine 6. Although none of the original games received brand-new story content, both games came with all of their DLC.

If you don't want Retro Revenge, you can purchase the definitive editions separately for a price comparable to the original ones. Dead Island and Riptide owners could buy the classic editions at a steep discount when they were initially released to make up for the remaster, which cost more money in Dead Island Definitive Collection.

Major Highlights

• Alcohol and other throwables like Molotov cocktails and grenades now count as different weapons and don't require a weapon slot. An adjustment was made to Riptide, which was preserved in the Definitive Editions.
• If alcohol was present when you looted a container, it could occasionally replace your current weapon and equip it in your hand. Since it no longer happens, the alcohol will be added to your inventory.
• Now, robbing a body is as easy as looting a container. When stealing a body in the original games, your character would hesitate, whereas looting a container could be done by simply smashing and grabbing. It is now possible to steal bodies while in combat, in large quantities, or quickly without being penalised for doing so.
