The King of Shades has cursed the mighty city of Icenaire. Former occupants have resurrected as insane Wraiths, leaving the area permanently plagued by frost fall. Players can take more direct routes through these sub-zones or, alternatively, might wander treasure in the hope of finding additional loot and glory.

To access the boss encounter in each region, the player must accomplish five sectors. Although a path to the exit is often only five rooms long, each sector contains eight to ten rooms.

These encounters can involve combat with foes, finding valuables, or stopping at a camp to rest.
