Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV's gameplay aims to choose any character, conquer the landscape, and begin controlling China's destiny.

Here, the Game's primary focus is controlling numerical numbers that indicate a town's quality or character. Examples include information on a city's capacity to stockpile food, its susceptibility to natural disasters like floods and earthquakes, the Level of happiness among its citizens, and so on. The Game's primary objectives are ending the war and unifying the country under a single ruler. The Game will continue until just one lord is left, even if the player's initial force is defeated.

Depending on the title, turns are taken once a month or once a week. Each city can carry out several actions each Turn, but each step costs a set number of Action Points (AP). The player must carefully consider their actions each Turn because they have a finite number of AP.

• One realistic map is used to depict the entirety of China, accurately simulating the landscape's features. There are about 340 regions and 46 cities on the enormous map. The regions are groups of an intricately defined territory, and a colour scheme intuitively conveys the struggle for land. Players can capture part to unify the country and fly their flags more lavishly and freely.
• The number of distinct cops in the Game is over 1,000, making it the most in the franchise. Each officer has a distinctive "character" (trait). There are more than 150 persons, some of which are helpful in combat, others in the administration, etc. Some policemen have strong personalities, and placing the appropriate officer in the proper location will hasten to capture of new territory.
• Developing fresh tactics while protecting the front line
• The supply routes will be kept open, troops can fight with plenty of supplies when they are on the march, and the march-originating city will be linked to territory held by the players' armies. However, if the link to the march's starting city is severed, the soldiers will forfeit their supply lines, weaken, and degenerate into an unruly state. Sustaining the combat front requires maintaining the supply lines.
• Doctrine and a particular policy can completely transform an administration!
• The administration, or the seat of authority, can be organised by players as a component of their strategy. An organisational chart depicts the administration; different commands and consequences are obtained when retained officers are added. Making decisions that support your approach is crucial.
