Gameplay

The "slugcat" character that the player controls uses rocks and spears to live in a violent, feeble, and confusing 2D world. Over 1600 static screens are passed through by pipes and passageways that let the player explore the globe in any direction. Each fixed screen has opponents who spawn in predetermined areas and can then migrate from screen to screen. The slug can swim, climb poles, jump, and avoid danger while scavenging for food that is in short supply and is used to hibernate in isolated, designated, safe chambers. The day cycle is reset by hibernation, and the player's progress is saved.

A crushing rain will pour, overwhelming the world and assuring that the slugcat perishes by drowning or being battered by the downpours if the player does not approach the hibernation point by the end of the day cycle. The slug will only be permitted to hibernate generally if it has consumed enough food. Instead, it will awaken in a state of famine, where it gets lethargic and frequently faints. When the cycle finishes through hibernation, it won't return to normal if it doesn't consume sufficient food to fill the hunger bar. Instead, it will starve to death. 

You are a wandering slugcat who lives in a damaged ecology as both a hunter and a prey. Grab your spear and venture into the industrial wastes to seek plenty of food to survive, but be careful—other, larger species have the same idea, and slugcats look appetising.
