The first-person shooter video Game Battleborn was made available for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows by 2K Games and Gearbox Software. On May 3, 2016, the video Game went on sale everywhere.

Battleborn was a multiplayer online combat Arena Game with characteristics of a hero shooter (MOBA). Players can participate in tournament games with other players, suitable matches with other players, or single-player matches by choosing one of the numerous pre-designed characters with special attacks and skills. Players can choose between two new skills or buffs with each progression step, allowing them to customise their character's loadout for the length of the fight. Players collect experience throughout matches to progress their protagonist along the Helix Tree. Additionally, when the player completes battles, they receive randomised gear (produced similarly to the randomised weapon feature in the Borderlands series), which may be attached as part of the loadout to grant additional buffs and abilities or bought through microtransactions.

When the Game was first released, critics gave it varying ratings, highlighting the challenges of understanding the intricate gameplay mechanisms, which they claimed were eventually rewarding and profound yet intimidating to beginning players. Overwatch eclipsed Battleborn, another hero shooter by Blizzard Entertainment, launched a few weeks later and significantly reduced Battleborn's player base within a month. In response, Gearbox altered the Game's price and downloadable features to entice new gamers.

The Game takes place in a science fiction universe where all creatures have fled to the star Solus following a catastrophic catastrophe that wiped out most of the cosmos' planets and stars. Upon their arrival, these species were split into several groups. Still, ultimately they reunited and worked together by sending the greatest warriors, known as Battleborn, to battle Varelsi, the cause of the tragedy.

Storyline

The commander of the UPR (United Peacekeeping Republics), Trevor Ghalt, organised a coalition to preserve the final star, Solus, when the leader of the Jennerit Imperium, Lothar Rendain, went on a rampage to destroy all the stars in the cosmos. The first mission compels the player to assume the role of Mellka, an Eldrid agent who is sent to meet Deande, a former Jennerit assassin, for a rendezvous. Rendain gives Deande another opportunity to show her commitment to him during this assignment, but she rejects it. After completing this assignment, the player is free to employ any Battleborn for the subsequent Quest, which calls for defeating ISIC to turn him into an ally. The third mission requires the player to kill the Varelsi Conservator while escorting an M7 Super Sentry.
