You write your own story in Starbound; there is no incorrect way to play! You can decide to embark on a hero's journey to save the universe from the forces that wiped out your home while learning more about the larger galactic mysteries, or you can settle unexplored worlds rather than embark on a heroic trip.

You can settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landowner, travel between planets gathering rare animals, or explore dangerous dungeons searching for incredible treasures.

Find out about modern metropolises, eye-bearing plants, and sneaky penguins. Build a peaceful cabin in the woods, a castle from the Middle Ages, an underwater arcade, or even a space station with over two thousand items and hundreds of materials.

Starbound was created from the bottom up with multiplayer and simple mobility. The possibilities are endless, as you can add new objects, races, planet types, dungeons, and missions to customise the game to your play style and make the cosmos your own.

Gameplay

Procedural generation is used by many gaming components and features, including objects, adversaries, and planets, to produce a diversity of content. The game has quests, story-based missions, open-world exploration, monsters to fend off, environmental interaction and terraforming capabilities. The clothing a player is sporting might be used to determine their class.

Additionally, the player can cultivate and sell crops, construct structures, and collect rent from NPC tenants who can occupy those structures.

Starbound is an action-adventure video game set in a two-dimensional, randomly generated cosmos that the player can explore to find new tools, armour, and artefacts, as well as towns and settlements home to diverse, intelligent lifeforms.
