The usage of magical attacks, grappling and throwing of foes, and weapon attacks are all options for players. Experience points can be used to enhance spells and weapons. Using one button to launch a quick attack and another to establish a slow, powerful assault allows the player to create combos. The player's current total of consecutive hits is displayed on-screen, with a more significant total yielding better awards.

Kukulkan's Fangs, a double-ended scythe with obsidian blades, is Briggs' primary weapon. Tacab's Bloodthirsty Claws, a pair of curved swords wielded backhand with quick slashes; the Forsaken Sting, a long chain-whip with a long reach but low damage output; and Patan's Tusk, a slow but potent hammer. It has three alternate forms that serve as the Game's other weapons. Briggs also possesses a variety of magical skills. He can use Spirit Knives to do long-range damage to opponents, the Conversion power to convince rivals to fight alongside him, and Wings of the Condor to fly. Additionally, four spells can attack, one for each of the four classical elements: "Huracan's Winds," "Strength of Cabrakan," "Flames of Kinich Ahau," and "Chaac's Freezing Wrath" each deal earth damage to all opponents in his immediate vicinity.
